Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a RPS Quality Manager to work in our Quality Programs department. Our team works a 4x10 schedule located out of our MFC facility with every Friday off. You will report to a senior manager.

Have you always wanted to work on the fueling and testing of radioactive power sources for deep space missions? Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is proud to host a unique capability for promoting deep space exploration that spans the limits of our own solar system and beyond. INL’s Space Nuclear Power and Isotope Technologies Division manages the Space and Security Power Systems Facility (SSPSF), located at INL’s Materials and Fuels Complex west of Idaho Falls, where assembly and testing capabilities for Radioisotope Power Systems (RPS) reside.

The RPS program is hiring a Quality Manager to oversee our RPS Quality team, comprised of approximately seven individuals. Our Quality group is a top-notch, highly functioning team comprised of individuals who partner with Engineering and Operations to promote work collaboration.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Provide leadership services to the Radioisotope Power Systems (RPS) Program and other activities under Space Nuclear Power and Isotope Technologies (SNPIT) division.
  • Manage RPS quality activities to plan the provision of RPS quality services for the various projects within the RPS program and SNPIT division.
  • Maintain and improve RPS Program, SNPIT Division, and project-specific quality polices, plans, procedures with project managers that will fulfill the quality needs for the projects while ensuring that INL policies, standards, and procedures are met through a continuous cycle of planning, execution, assessment, and improvement.
  • Provide leadership and mentor RPS Program and SNPIT Division quality staff through communication, problem solving, and development of and provision for professional and personal development.
  • Maintain RPS Records following its records plan and ensure compliance with INL requirements.
  • Manage activities of a broad functional area through non-exempt and exempt specialists. Provide direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance. 
  • Receive assignments based on incremental goals and defined processes. Monitor, integrate, and coordinate daily, weekly or monthly activities. 
  • Monitor activities to develop operational enhancements and maintains internal control, schedule, and quality adherence. Develop routine operational plans. 
  • Help develop overall goals and long-term goals of the program. 
  • Resolve issues of moderate to large scope/complexity. 
  • Work with subordinate supervisors and functional peer groups. Interaction requires interpreting and explaining information to audiences familiar with the subject. 
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, technology, or other scientific field and 7 years relevant experience, or advanced degree and 5 years relevant experience
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship. 


The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Experience developing a nuclear quality assurance program (NQA-1).
  • Maintaining or implementing a nuclear quality assurance program (NQA-1).
  • Experience coordinating activities between geographical and organizational separation (NASA, Department of Energy, National Lab contractors, DOT, or state/local officials)


Job Information: 

  • The target pay range for this position is $155,285 - $175,922 annually.  The full pay range is $89,652 - $215,160. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.
  • You are required to show a demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.
  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
