Team Description

It begins with a Card Member using an American Express Card at one of our millions of Merchants around the world – the rest is up to us. The Network Acquirer Solutions team (NAS) is the heart of the American Express Enterprise, powering billions of transactions through the global payments processing network that we develop and manage.

NAS is unique within the Enterprise. We work across almost every American Express business unit as well as external partners, providers, and key industry stakeholders. We are known to be intellectually curious problem solvers as we tackle the most imperative initiatives facing the payments industry today.

The Network & Acquirer Capability Delivery (NACD) team within NAS works to deliver full-scale Network solutions including new digital products such as Debit, Push to Card, Multi-Rail, and Local Network solutions to meet the evolving demands of global payment networks and adapt to local market needs while ensuring continued global interoperability.  This enables the Enterprise to attract new customers, operate in new markets, react to changing regulatory demands, and process new/emerging types of payments.  A role on this team will challenge you to broaden your skills and industry acumen in a collaborative, diverse and inclusive team environment.

The Merchant Data Office & Enablement team (MDOE) is responsible for overseeing data products and platforms specific to the Global Merchant & Network Services (GMNS) business. Our team is dedicated to helping American Express leverage enterprise-wide capabilities and assets to strengthen our integrated network and become an essential part of our customers’ digital lives.

Role Description

Within MDOE, the Merchant Data Enrichment and Enablement (MDEE) team is responsible for designing, building and maintaining data products to improve the quality of merchant data for merchant marketing, business operations and Cardmember experiences. We are seeking an Analyst/Sr. Analyst to join the MDEE team to work on scaling the data products to different use cases, analyze the rich merchant data to unearth opportunities and design solutions that fit within the current data landscape. This role is an exciting opportunity for a passionate analyst that is ready to learn and grow within the Data product space. 

Primary responsibilities include:

  • Work alongside Product Owner(s) to develop a product-level strategy and roadmap
  • Create feature and user story definitions working closely with Product Owners
  • Establish acceptance criteria, test strategy, and write user acceptance test cases
  • Be a data quality guru with an ability to analyze, slice and dice data with a keen eye for identifying opportunities, driving improvement and scalability to merchant data, as well as building governance processes around it
  • Develop deep understanding of integrations with other systems and platforms within the supported domains
  • Work closely with the Data Science/analytics team to identify how advanced analytics, AI/ML solutions can be leveraged to build new product features
  • Develop and adapt processes to take maximum advantage of technology advancements, reduce manual effort through automation, and drive accuracy and efficiency

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in a quantitative field such as mathematics, statistics, data analytics, or engineering 
  • Product management experience: 1–2-year experience in large scale data as a service products or digital platforms using Agile methodology is preferred
  • Problem solving: Demonstrable analytical aptitude and ability to analyze data to come up with meaningful insights and make informed business decisions. Hands on experience on Hive, Python, SQL, Big Query is required
  • Effective communicator and influencer: Excellent verbal and written communication with an ability to convert business requirements to tech features
  • Hybrid: Must be able to work in-office at least 3 days/week 

Salary Range: $60,000.00 to $110,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
