Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with business, product, engineering and data science teams to unlock the power of leveraging data across Amex.
- Partner with development teams in the data design of complex solutions and ensure that they are in alignment with the data architecture principles, standards, strategies, and target states.
- Drive Data vision, strategy, and execution that meets the technology and business needs across complete Database development lifecycle including identifying the Right database for the need, Database design following all Functional & Non-functional requirements assuring Highly Available, Scalable and Performant solutions
- Discover database requirements and translate into conceptual, logical, physical database design
- Adopt industry leading Database technologies duly leveraging On-prem & Public Cloud to support best-in-class business capabilities to deliver secured, cost efficient, high performance computing and data storage solutions with cost efficiencies and collaborate in evolving enterprise standards & best practices
- Be a thought leader around all things Data, reviewing current and future needs with big picture thinking
- Communicates and works collaboratively with Product, Architects & Engineers to support deliver business priorities in an agile environment
- Continuous learning & evaluation of DBMS features and functions to drive efficiencies & drive adoption
- Contributes to decisions about tools, methods and processes
Required Skills:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Science Engineering, or related STEM field required; advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of Database Development with Architecture & Design experience in a professional environment and/or comparable experience.
- Demonstrated Hands-on experience on Relational & NoSQL Databases on Public Cloud and On-Prem such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, Couchbase, Cassandra etc including Database Design, DB Development lifecycle activities, Performance tuning, troubleshooting issues, Backup and recovery, Physical & Logical replication solutions including GoldenGate usage are preferred
- Practical experience with Data Architecture, translate business data requirements into Conceptual, logical, physical data models by using industry standard Data modeling products like Hackolade, ERStudio etc
- Experience with cross-team collaboration efforts including multiple development, infrastructure, engineering and production support teams in a dynamic environment.
- Strong Experience in one of the public cloud platforms like AWS and GCP are preferred.
- Experience supporting DBA activities for distributed/multi-tier systems and application development, including programming languages such as Shell, Python, Go, Java
- Experience with Agile development, Continuous Integration, and Continuous Delivery, including working knowledge of various tools in the CI/CD pipeline.
- Experience developing tools for database automation
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills preferred
- Experience and knowledge of data security and privacy concerns
Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
