The Data Governance and Data Engineer will coordinate with the data governance board, business stakeholders and data teams and work within data management teams to design, develop, and maintain data models, data transformation, and data quality.  Responsibilities include: 
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the business context and objectives by, among other things, eliciting and prioritizing data needs
  • Advise and guide organizations on appropriate data standards, policies and processes to support increasing data accuracy, consistency and sharing policies and processes to support increasing data accuracy, consistency and sharing
  • Build and maintain an enterprise data catalog and champion adoption across the organization
  • Identify, build and maintain data quality reporting to support data quality standards and increase user confidence in data assets
  • Implement and maintain an enterprise data dictionary, business glossary and data lineage
  • Ensure policies and controls are properly defined, communicated and implemented to manage appropriate use of critical data assets
  • Liaise with development teams to develop and optimize usage and usability, and reduce redundancy of data products
  • Design and develop data models and data transformation routines / data pipelines
  • Monitor, prioritize and resolve data issues and remove impediments to the use of data assets

Projected compensation range for this position is $130K - $150K. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is determined by various factors, including but not limited to the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as internal pay equity, location, contract-specific affordability and other organizational requirements.

Required Skills
  • 5+ years experience in IT or related industry
  • Experience leading data governance or stewardship programs
  • Experience with leading vendors and tools providing data cataloging/inventory, metadata management and stewardship capabilities
  • Intermediate/Advanced SQL skills
  • Intermediate/Advanced experience with Dataverse, Synapse, JSON
  • Experience developing data pipelines with Azure Data Factory and performing transformations and troubleshooting
  • Strong understanding of data modeling
  • Experience working with Data Visualization tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Strong analytical aptitude and ability to structure complex or undefined business problems
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to report and present findings to varying stakeholders
  • B.A. or B.S. (focus in Computer Information Systems, Business Management, Engineering, or related area of study)
  • Must be a US Citizen


Desirable Skills
  • Experience with cloud analytics products such as AWS Glue Data Catalog, Azure Purview, Cloudera Data Intelligence Suite or Alation, Informatica, Collibra etc.
  • Preferred knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets
  • Prior consulting or client management experience preferred

  • Initiative to learn new strategies and trends to continue to educate self analytically, technically, and technologically

Salary range

  • $130,000 - $150,000 per year
