What we need 

We are looking for a Senior Engineering Technician to join the System Test Engineering organization. Our technicians work closely with multiple engineering groups at Symbotic’s Integrated Test Center to operate and maintain the test systems for our automated warehouse solution. The System Test Technician will support several test initiatives concurrently to ensure that Symbotic delivers a production-ready system and achieves major company milestones. 

What we do 

The System Test organization is a multidisciplinary group dedicated to validating the performance of Symbotic’s warehouse automation system and driving the highest standards of quality and reliability. System Test is responsible for all aspects of test planning and execution, from early-stage new product development initiatives to continuous improvement of our products in the field.   

What you’ll do 

  • Build and test prototype mobile robots in collaboration with design and test engineers.  
  • Build and implement test tools, fixtures, and facilities.  
  • Instrument systems and collect test data for development and failure analysis investigations.  
  • Execute product validation and verification tests in field or lab environments.  
  • Meticulously log data and outcomes and communicate them effectively within the team.  
  • Debug mechanical and electrical issues on prototype hardware and recommend solutions.  

What you’ll need 

  • Minimum 7 years of experience as an Engineering Technician in a product development environment.  
  • High school or vocational technical school diploma required. Associate’s or BS in technical discipline preferred.  
  • Experience with complex electromechanical products, robotics, or automation required.  
  • Demonstrated ability to be very hands-on. This is a “roll-up-your-sleeves” position.  
  • Skilled in mechanical assembly, wiring, soldering, and instrumentation.  
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings.  
  • Experience with CAD (SolidWorks, AutoCAD) a plus.  
  • Experience using mills, lathes and welding a plus.  
  • Experience running software scripts to execute tests. Familiar with Linux, Python, Bash, etc.   
  • Some travel may be required.   

Our Environment

  • Employees must have a valid driver’s license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.
  • The employee is responsible for owning a credit card and managing expenses personally to be reimbursed bi-weekly.
