The Global Risk & Compliance Organization (“GRC”) is an independent risk management function, led by the Chief Risk Officer, with the objective of ensuring that American Express operates in a safe, sound, and fully compliant manner within all applicable regulatory expectations. GRC creates and maintains the overall risk management framework, performs independent risk management assessments, and monitors applicable risks.

GRC’s Vendor Risk Oversight (VRO) is hiring a new Director, together with a new manager, will drive the establishment of a new team to provide governance and oversight for Third Party Risk Policies and Frameworks across American Express. VRO organization within Global Risk and Compliance (GRC) is responsible for identifying and managing risk across all business units, functions, processes, and geographies at American Express, related to affiliate and non-affiliate Third Parties.  The team will assist in the identification, measurement, monitoring, and management of risks related to the business products and processes.  VRO is led by the Vice President, Vendor Risk Oversight.

The new team will develop a governance framework with associated Policies, Standards and framework documents to manage the Third-Party risks associated with all business engagements across the company. Once established, the new team will own and maintain that framework and associated policies, standards, and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development, implementation, and enforcement of an enterprise Third Party Risk governance framework.
  • Support the development and issuance of regular Third-Party Risk governance reporting to senior leaders and/or appropriate risk committees.
  • Review and provide guidance to first line stakeholders as they develop/maintain procedures to implement the Third-Party governance framework.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of leadership experience in risk, compliance, legal, or regulatory roles
  • Experience with Risk Management governance required, specifically in creating and implementing risk management policies and related program and framework documentation
  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree a plus
  • Third Party Risk Management experience required
  • Strong communication skills a must, particularly written communication
  • Able to effectively manage multiple and often conflicting priorities under tight timeframes and adapt to frequent change
  • Able to lead without authority derived from band level.
  • Rigorous and analytical approach to problem-solving, decision-making, and prioritization collaboration across teams/geographies.

Salary Range: $90,000.00 to $165,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
