Senior Network Engineer – Hybrid

Our client seeks a Senior Network Engineer to be involved in both field installation and support of network server, SAN, data/voice infrastructure and virtualization and security solutions, as well as work in their Network Operations Center, configuring and monitoring security solutions, providing remote support and administration, deploying and supporting virtual servers in our cloud services Infrastructure as a Services business practice, and assisting with solutions design and project management.     Participation in a rotating emergency on-call rotation is required. 

Based in their corporate headquarters in Cedar Knolls, NJ, you will travel to client sites in the NJ/NY metro area (using a company car) and work from our corporate office and/or home.

To be successful as a Senior Network Engineer, you should have solid troubleshooting and analytical skills, in-depth knowledge, and hands-on experience in design, installation, configuration, support, administration, and troubleshooting of LAN, WAN, and security systems and infrastructures, Microsoft Server and Desktop platforms, and VMware virtualization. You should also be an excellent communicator and be able to interface with our clients regarding projects and their support needs.

To be successful, you should have:

  • Minimum 3 years in network engineering, preferably in an MSP environment.
  • Proficient with Windows servers, Active Directory, Exchange, Remote Desktop Services, VMware, firewalls, switches, access points, and MS365 administration.
  • MCSA or Microsoft 365 Associate certification required; CompTIA N+ or Security+ preferred.
  • Strong understanding of TCP/IP, routing, and experience with Cisco DUO and MS365 Endpoint Management (MDM, Intune).
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and customer service skills with the ability to work independently and in a team.

Our client prefers top candidates will have:

  • Experience administering and supporting EMC Storage Area Networks (SAN) a plus.
  • Microsoft MCSE and advanced M365/Azure certifications strongly preferred.
  • VMware VCP and VCAP certifications preferred.

What you’ll do as the Senior Network Engineer:

  • Installation & Configuration: Install, configure, and support PC, server, and network infrastructure, including switches, firewalls, and VPN gateways, both remotely and onsite.
  • System Administration: Administer and support Windows Server solutions, MS365, and MS Azure environments.
  • VMware Management: Handle VMware host installation, configuration, and deployment of virtual machines.
  • Documentation & Support: Create and maintain documentation, including configuration procedures and LAN diagrams; support and troubleshoot.
  • Incident Response: Collaborate with the Incident Response Team to address security events and participate in emergency on-call rotation.
