Pay Range

$90,000.00-$123,800.00 Annual

This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire.   Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus. 

The Senior Product Engineer-GoBoard is responsible for supporting markets and customers by providing the link between product development, R&D, application development, and manufacturing for the entire GoBoard Product Line.

Your Day to Day:

  • Lead new product and process development when they move past the R&D phase and are being scaled up at JM or partner manufacturing facilities.
  • Identify critical customer requirements and develop product definitions for potential new developments that will lead to value added solutions.
  • Plan, schedule and execute technological work needed to support the GoBoard product portfolio.
  • Document development and product maintenance results through reports and/or presentations.
  • Demonstrate aggressive IP protection attitude for new product and process developments.
  • Drive excellence in stage gate product development and project management.
  • Develop and/or use (new) test methods, system tests, processes and materials as required to meet project objectives.
  • Design test apparatus as needed to prototype and test new products.
  • Perform experiments using DOE methodology, standard principles, established procedures and test methods.
  • Generate product prototypes using laboratory and pilot facilities to evaluate raw materials, coating formulations, nonwovens, reinforcements, foam formulations and board configurations.
  • Evaluate accessory prototypes as needed to ensure compatibility with existing product portfolio, assess performance and ensure code compliance.
  • Collaborate in problem-solving with other JM or non-JM team members.
  • Create manufacturing specifications by performing complex experiments to link product performance requirements to manufacturing capabilities.
  • Manage certifications, 3rd party testing, new product / materials qualifications and all code compliance and related maintenance for existing listing reports.
  • Develop and maintain quality management system for new and existing products by drafting and updating all internal specifications including quality manuals.
  • Keep abreast of market intelligence on competitor technology and product platforms and feedback into I&C group and business team.
  • Provide internal technical service to operations when customer issues and complaints arise for existing and new products.
  • Help troubleshoot product related issues with customers.
  • Provide customer service and lead customer training events as needed.

What You Bring to the Team:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or relevant JM engineering experience with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in product/design/process engineering
  • Ability to translate complex technical needs into robust products.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects independently with strong project management skills.
  • Strong technical skills in data gathering, statistical and engineering analysis and evaluation.
  • Strong leadership skills
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability and willingness to work in a production environment during trials.
  • Ability to execute on deliverables.
  • Ability to work independently and with cross-functional teams.
  • Heavy travel required (30-40%)
  • Ability and willingness to work hands-on to solve equipment and mechanical issues.
  • Ability to use hand and power tools to install all GoBoard products.
  • May be required to lift, carry, push or pull up to and including 25 pounds.
  • Work environment is typical of a research and development facility; during plant trials may be exposed to environmental conditions of cold, heat, high noise levels, moving mechanical parts, heights, dust/mist/gas/fumes, extensive walking or climbing, etc.
