Description

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Senior Quality Program Engineer to work in our Environment, Safety, Health and Quality department. Our team works a 9x80 onsite schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off.

You will report to the Quality Assurance Lead. You will be an ambassador of INL’s quality program implementation for assigned work areas. Develop and implement nuclear quality assurance procedures, technical methods, control systems, protocols, and procedures to ensure quality standards are in place and product quality is achieved in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Ambassador of INL’s quality program implementation for assigned work areas as an INL Quality Program Subject Matter Expert (SME).
  • Conduct Quality Program evaluations to assure adequate quality requirements are identified and incorporated. 
  • Provide technical expertise, assistance, and advice to program, project, or facility management and personnel relative to quality compliance and implementation issues.
  • Work with facility management on significant matters requiring coordination across organizations lines.
  • Provide solutions to resolve facility, program, or project compliance issues. 
  • Provide Quality Program expertise to assist assigned facility personnel in the development of new quality concepts for new structure, system, and component (SSC) design, development, procurement, and installation.
  • Conduct quality audits and surveillance activities to identify weaknesses and potential safety, quality, and efficiency improvements.
  • Provide input to other subject matter experts and functional area managers to promote continuous improvement in INL Quality and related processes.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers to determine that needs are met.
  • Coach facility personnel through the application of subject matter expertise in the quality requirements for activities affecting quality in DOE Nuclear Facilities and Non-nuclear Facilities as identified by the Quality Assurance Program.
  • Ensure quality program compliance through the review and concurrence of Quality affecting documentation.
  • Maintain complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, and practices required for delivering quality techniques and tools.
  • Maintain required training and proficiency per training plan.
  • Other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications

Minimum Requirements: 

  • EX4: Bachelors of Science degree plus 9 years related experience, or 15 years’ experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree may be considered in the design, application, and/or implementation of Nuclear Quality Program Requirements.
  • EX5: Bachelors of Science degree plus 14 years related experience, or 20 years’ experience in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree may be considered in the design, application, and/or implementation of Nuclear Quality Program Requirements.
  • Knowledge, understanding, and experience in implementing DOE Order 414.1D. Knowledge, understanding, and experience implementing national consensus standards such as ASME NQA-1 (various years). 
  • Knowledge, understanding, and experience in implementing integrated quality programs. 
  • Professional experience analyzing problems and help identifying solutions. 
  • Must be able to obtain BEA Quality Engineer qualification.
  • Must be able to obtain BEA Quality Assurance Lead Auditor qualification.
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "Q" clearance, which requires US Citizenship. 


Desired Knowledge:

  • Currently or previously qualified as an NQA-1 Lead Auditor


Job Information: 

  • The pay range for this position is: Level #4 ($91,008 - $186,588 ) / Level # 5 ($109,260 - $223,908). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

  • TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment. 
  • Multi-Level: This is a multi-level posting and you will be placed at the appropriate level dependent on depth and breadth of proven experience and skills.
