Position Description
We are seeking an experienced Senior Quality Specialist to work full-time at our electronics manufacturing facility located in Olathe, KS. The individual in this position is responsible for managing our quality improvement programs, ISO and electrical certifications compliance. This highly active, working Senior Quality Specialist is an integral player in achieving the company's quality objectives, revenue and profit goals. This role will be the leader of the facility’s quality processes and products that it produces. The individual in this role will be working directly with the operations, manufacturing, supply chain, sales and finance teams on a daily basis in the pursuit of producing the highest quality electronics in the world. This is an active leadership role possessing very high visibility within the organization as this facility provides products to most of our global manufacturing locations.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop and implement manufacturing process metrics and perform hands on analysis of statistically based data to indicate process quality performance.
- Apply process control methodology and root cause analysis tools to drive quality improvements across all functions.
- Assign and drive corrective/preventive processes and actions across all functions as needed.
- Serve as the lead quality resource for providing statistical and technical support to all company disciplines for problem identification, resolution, and continuous improvement.
- Assist top management by providing professional quality support throughout all program phases: proposals, contract review, development, prototype, production, and service.
- Assist the supplier quality organization in the monitoring of supplier performance and escalate vendor issues to the proper channels while serving as the boots on the ground within the facility.
- Provide expertise to assist the Olathe team in investigation and reporting of internal in-process and customer related quality problems.
- Compile and conduct employee training programs in manufacturing process techniques, ISO quality system requirements, IPC standards and SPC methods.
- Maintenance of the established equipment calibration and ESD floor programs.
- Ensure continued compliance with current quality management systems and certifications.
- Serve as the primary interface for external registrar and customer audits. Coordinate the scheduling and performance of internal audits.
- Review and revise quality system procedures to continuously improve effectiveness and maintain compliance with quality system requirements.
- Supervise a small team of employees who directly support the quality department.
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in electronics or related technical field; and at least three years related experience in quality assurance practices and procedures, policies and monitoring programs; or equivalent combination of education and experience, preferably in an electronics manufacturing environment.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills with broad knowledge of statistics and statistical process control (SPC).
- Experience with FactoryLogix, MiniTab, MS PowerBI or other statistical software a plus
- Experience with a modern ERP system is desired, Microsoft Dynamics BC experience is a plus.
- Diverse knowledge of electronics manufacturing technologies and process improvement methods is a plus.
- Ability to interpret schematics and technical drawings related to the products produced and procured.
- Experience with ISO and IPC standards is critical.
- Past success in operational process improvement, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, deliver results quickly and adapt to changing demands.
- Ability to work independently, energetically, and proactively, in a leadership role, exercise good interpersonal skills and sound judgment while working cooperatively to provide quality customer service.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to discuss relevant issues at all levels of the organization is required.
- Effective presentation, training and organizational skills are a must.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office suite.
