Position Summary
The Senior Specialist, Global Cell Therapy Logistics & Warehousing position plays a critical role within the Global Cell Therapy Logistics, Warehousing & Trade organization, a part of the broader Global Cell Therapy Supply Chain. This position is responsible for the execution of key operational tasks related to the transportation and storage of essential raw materials. These responsibilities encompass shipment booking, transportation management, storage transactions, inventory oversight, freight audit and payment processes, and supplier relationship management.
The scope of this role spans both clinical and commercial operations, primarily within North America and Europe. The materials handled include a range of critical temperature sensitive raw materials and reagents and various warehouse laboratory and manufacturing consumables. The Senior Specialist will collaborate closely on a daily basis with internal partners in Supply Chain, External Manufacturing, Quality, and Manufacturing Operations, as well as external service providers including specialty couriers, shipping system providers, logistics visibility platforms, cryopreservation hubs, and distribution centers
Key Responsibilities
- Execute daily and weekly logistics and warehousing activities in liaison with the rest of the team
- Run operations with logistics suppliers and continuously improve ways of working and performance
- Support logistics and warehousing readiness for country launches and new manufacturing plant go lives
- Support weekly and monthly operations and business review meetings internally and externally
- Facilitate inventory movements, destructions and returns and maintain accurate IT system records
- Reconcile inventory at 3PL locations periodically and support annual inventory counts
- Provide inputs to new and updated logistics procedures and support correctness of supplier procedures
- Support implementation of change controls, procedural changes and improvement initiatives
- Monitor and control correct shipment execution and adherence to planned milestones and service levels
- Support supplier selection and implementation projects and initiatives
- Execute transport requests and shipping system orders within and across regions
- Issue shipping documents and support creation and review of import and export documents
- Work closely with manufacturing plants and hubs for effective execution of shipping and receiving tasks
- Investigate discrepancies including root cause analysis, CAPA provision and effectiveness checks
- Report logistics performance within standard KPI and metrics framework and on ad hoc basis
- Support logistics invoice auditing, reconciliation and payment including purchase order management
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, science, logistics management or equivalent
- Minimum two years of experience in logistics, warehousing and distribution in the pharma industry
- A strong understanding of and experience in cold chain logistics is critical
- Experience in cell and gene industry preferred
- Candidates with prior experience in international trade compliance, encompassing HTS code knowledge, customs documentation management, and import/export logistics, are strongly encouraged to apply.
- Experience with complex and highly regulated pharma transportation and storage models
- Good knowledge of GDP regulations, transport regulations and dangerous goods regulations
- Skilled in planning tasks, organizing work and communicating problem statements and solution proposals
- Highly self-motivated individual, with demonstrated ability to work independently
- Ability to work in a fast-changing environment and in serving as change agent
- Flexibility in responding to change or business needs
The starting compensation for this job based in Washington is a range from $87,200 - $105,700, plus incentive cash and stock opportunities (based on eligibility).
The starting pay rate takes into account characteristics of the job, such as required skills and where the job is performed. Final, individual compensation will be decided based on demonstrated experience.
