This Senior Technical Program Manager will be a member of the Global Infrastructure Customer experience team reporting into the Enterprise Cloud Technology office. They will leverage broad technical and strategic Amex Cloud knowledge to drive the execution of the Cloud strategy, evangelize cloud native principles and promote best practices across the technology organization,

Responsibilities include:

  • Steers execution on defined, program-level goals for medium-to-high complexity programs
  • Works within and across team(s) to anticipate, track, and resolve risks and impediments to delivery
  • Responsible for tracking delivery, and activities related to medium to high complexity initiatives by adding to design discussions, issue resolution, and removing obstacles to ensure program goals are met.
  • Collaborates with Infrastructure Product and Engineering teams to drive alignment of the Cloud strategy
  • Participates with product and engineering leaders to build implementation and evangelization roadmaps
  • Provides and consolidates inputs for leadership updates; facilitates meetings with leadership on delivery status and key decisions needed to support program delivery
  • Identifies and executes on opportunities for improvements to the delivery process; works with relevant teams to redesign process flows
  • Mentors, guides, and supports Technical Project Managers across the Cloud organization and other team members as appropriate
  • Tracks and interprets relevant OKR/KPIs; identifies key insights & next steps
  • Participates in PI planning meetings and other Agile ceremonies for team/teams. Contributes to prioritization discussions and pressure tests plans for feasibility, capacity, and risk
  • Drives coordination, collaboration, and alignment between Product Owners, Architects, and Engineers to meet regulatory and technical requirements
  • Monitors and ensures compliance with SDLC standards
  • Facilitates and plans change management and release management activities
  • Identifies and addresses complex inter-team technical dependencies, bridges gaps in technical management
  • Follows and instills documentation best practices to ensure designs meet requirements
  • Drives technical and regulatory consistency across workstreams; develops documentation to ensure ongoing maintenance and development of technical and regulatory solutions
  • Embraces the Technology SDLC process and role models a continuous improvement mindset

 Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in technical discipline or equivalent work experience required; advanced degree preferred
  • Certifications in project management methodologies is preferred
  • 5+ years in program delivery and project management
  • Technical knowledge sufficient to understand and discuss the Cloud offerings and strategy at American Express
  • Experience with Agile/SAFe/Lean methodologies required
  • Experience managing multiple initiatives, priorities and teams
  • Independently drives work, with some supervision, guidance, and coaching from line manager and senior members of Engineering team
  • Independently defines problems and identifies solutions in the face of ambiguity
  • Ability to manage multiple projects across multiple teams
  • Tailors messages and style across stakeholder groups
  • Understands and aligns priorities to the program vision and strategy

 Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ability and aptitude to learn new technical skills quickly.
  • Working understanding of major coding languages to track delivery challenges and support solutioning
  • Experience writing technical documentation
  • Ability to manage cross-functional projects with multiple technical departments
  • Strong understanding of organizational, product, and industry standard metrics. Ability to leverage metrics to diagnose problems and improve delivery
  • Ability to collaborate across teams and able to build and leverage strong working relationships and bring different opinions to consensus
  • Understanding of the full life cycle of product development, from concept to delivery, including Test Driven Development (TDD)
  • Ability to manage the post-production processes, drive quality, and implement testing best practices
  • Technical problem solving and issue-resolution abilities
  • Ability to maintain a high attention to detail in a deadline-driven work environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with demonstrated experience engaging and influencing cross-functional stakeholders and senior leaders
  • Strong understanding of interconnections between various business priorities
  • Demonstrated knowledge of project management process, project management software tools, templates, and management techniques.
  • Strong ability to manage change in a dynamic environment and influence others without direct authority

Salary Range: $110,000.00 to $190,000.00 annually + bonus + benefits
