Job Summary
As the student intern enters the company, this position is expected to assume, as much as possible, the role of a regular staff member.
Duties
Assists with specialized project and administrative tasks to ensure the coordination and completion of all segments of the assigned project. Compiles and consolidates reports and prepares presentation based on findings or outcomes.

Conducts research and gathers data for reports and presentations.

Works closely with assigned staff and varying levels of management.
Maintains cooperation and participation with key people involved in the project.
Adheres to company work hours, policies, procedures and rules governing professional staff behavior.

Assumes personal and professional responsibilities for actions and activities.
Maintains professional relationships with company employees, customers and so forth.

Duties Continued

Prepares for and utilizes conferences and other opportunities of learning afforded in the company.
Being consistent and punctual in the submission of all work assignments to the supervisor and faculty coordinator.
Provides the faculty coordinator with periodic progress reports.
Performs other relevant duties as assigned.
Education Required
Must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate degree and field placement program.Education Preferred
Experience
Required:
Must have general experience writing, meeting project deadlines and working with basic Microsoft Office Suite applications, such as word, excel and PowerPoint.

The intern will utilize and develop skills such as research, managed care IT operations,
understanding of L.A. County’s health system, IT data collection and analysis, strategic
planning, project development/management/evaluation, process improvement, problem solving,
project management, and meeting facilitation and note-taking.
Possible Internship Duties
- Contribute to IT process improvement, implementation and evaluation efforts
- Observe and assist in IT program, project meetings including weekly steering committee meetings
- Assists in the collection of organizational information for financial reports and statistical research
- Provides support in functional areas of the IT department
Desired Intern Profile/Qualifications
- A candidate who in interested in how Information Technology is applied in the healthcare industry.
- Preferably with a Computer/Information Science, Business Information, or Software Engineering Degree.
- Someone who enjoys research, analysis, and a quantitative approach to solving challenges.
- Has creative ideas and thinking.
- An organized and enthusiastic candidate who takes initiative and states his/her opinion, and asks questions.
- Decisive with good attitude that is flexible, able to take direction, and is open to receiving constructive feedback.
- Fluency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
