Description
Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Supply Chain Simulation and Modeling Researcher to work in our Decision Sciences department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Idaho Falls facility with every other Friday off.
Remote or Hybrid work opportunities may be available for this position.
You will perform the research, development and testing of models, simulations, and associated visualization using existing, or newly created technologies. Apply extensive expertise in application of mathematics, statistics, logic, and computer programming languages in the design, development, optimization, and testing of models that approximate physical entities or processes.
You will report to the Department Manager.
Responsibilities Include:
- Apply systems engineering principles, theories and concepts to analytical processes and information display and visualization.
- Use modeling and simulation to address complex problems across multiple different fields. These fields may include nuclear, chemistry, digital twins, critical infrastructure, energy delivery, and energy security applications.
- Analyze, test, modify, document, and maintain models or simulation-based systems related to scientific domains, including nuclear applications.
- Make preliminary selections and adaptations of technical alternatives.
- Develop and review designs, requirement definitions, operations, documentation, and testing processes. Improve, program, and develop software using appropriate technologies for the application (which may include Python).
- Continuously enhance your skills with cutting-edge technology.
- Contribute to research excellence through high impact peer-reviewed publications, software invention disclosures and patents.
- Lead and contribute to proposal writing to acquire funding from various funding offices.
- May mentor junior level staff and lead groups.
Minimum Requirements:
- PhD in Science and Engineering or related discipline and 2 years of industry related experience in supply chain.
- At least one peer-reviewed publication as a lead author.
- This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy "L" clearance, which requires US Citizenship.
Desired Experience:
- PhD and 5 years of industry related experience.
- Professional experience in techno-economic assessment, life cycle analysis and supply chain modeling.
Job Information:
- The pay range for this position is Salary Grade 450 ($93,204-$191,076). At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

- TDP: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.
