Title: Instructor, Accounting - 9/10 Month (Term)
POSITION SUMMARY This position is responsible for delivering quality instruction in an equitable environment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Teach courses via on-ground, online, hybrid or web-enhanced delivery modes as assigned. Work with course leads and/or program coordinators/directors to ensure consistent and equitable student experiences. Utilize the college’s learning management system to provide course materials to students. Maintain and submit updated department syllabi prior to the first day of class. Regularly check NSCC email and departmental mailbox. Respond to emails/messages within 24 hours except on the weekend. Complete all required reports such as student engagement, Early Alerts, progress reports, grade submissions; administer and return surveys and student outcome assessments by the required deadlines. Engage in departmental institutional effectiveness activities. Submit final grades for each semester by the deadline established by the registrar. Work with students as academic advisor as assigned. Comply with all college and TBR policies and guidelines.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Master’s degree in Accounting; OR
Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Accounting Topics and a current CPA license.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Documented experience teaching at the college level.
Demonstrated commitment to equity and accessibility.
Demonstrated understanding of the community college mission and needs of the student population.
Documented experience teaching Accounting courses in a variety of modalities including in-person, hybrid, virtual, and asynchronously online.
Demonstrated experience incorporating current technologies into teaching.

Title: Accounting Associate
POSITION SUMMARY The accounting associate performs a variety of accounting duties in support of the daily operations in the Office of Student Accounts and Billing.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Prepares daily cashier reports, enters cash receipts for approval, performs data entry and processes student accounts transactions. Tracks payment plan accounts for past due balances. Oversees collections of delinquent accounts and prepares and processes write-offs of uncollectable accounts. Processes third party contract payments. Reconciles accounts on a monthly and annual basis. Processes fee waivers.
Prepares and reviews financial and other reports. Assists office administrators with various tasks and special projects. Scans departmental records to the document management system. Accepts payments, answers the phone and responds to emails. Tests system updates/upgrades. Cross-trains in other office tasks to facilitate general knowledge of overall office operations. Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Technical Certificate or associate’s degree

POSITION SUMMARY Provides general accounting and professional support in the Finance &amp; Accounting, Budget, and Bursar offices
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Performs a variety of complex administrative functions related to accounting operations. Assists with the preparation and review of Nashville State’s financial statements. Manages accounts payable transactions. Researches and resolves complex questions/issues regarding various accounting topics for the College. Assists with the preparation and review of Nashville State’s budget statements, with day-to-day operations within the Bursar’s office, and with grant management, invoicing, and reconciliations.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field from an accredited college or university
Five (5) years of professional-level accounting experience
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Certified Public Accountant licensure
Experience working in a higher education environment
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Ability to interpret College policies and procedures, Tennessee Board of Regents’ policies, and state and federal laws, rules, and regulations. Must demonstrate advanced skill level using Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and the internet. Knowledge and understanding of accounting principles and procedures of financial record keeping and reporting. Must have proven problem-solving ability and skills.
