 Position Summary: To provide quality instruction for student learning and to maintain a positive learning environment in the classroom. The major emphasis will be placed on teaching and evaluating students in the classroom and laboratories.

 Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Planning and teaching classes as assigned and as outlined in the course descriptions and course syllabi. 2. Supervising the study and learning activities of students assigned. 3. Submitting requests through the department head, program coordinator, or lead teacher for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and other instructional aids. 4. Evaluating the academic progress of students. 5. Demonstrating knowledge of services, regulations, and procedures as defined in the Adjunct Faculty Handbook. 6. Submitting course grades and performing other administrative duties as required. 7. Scheduling two office hours. For extenuating circumstances in which office hours cannot be scheduled, the adjunct faculty member must submit a written plan to the Dean describing how students can access the instructor. Office hours are not paid during the summer session.
 Required Qualifications: Master’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited college/university with at least 18 graduate semester hours in the Reading teaching field

Southwest Tennessee Community College aims to employ part-time instructional supporters/tutors to provide learning support, course reinforcement, and coaching to students in one or more of the qualified subject areas. Part-time instruction supporters/tutors will provide tutoring sessions and/or perform front desk duties. Supplemental instruction is a non-traditional method of tutoring that provides group study support outside the classroom through discrete study sessions to supplement the in-class lessons. Part-time instruction supporters/tutors are responsible for attending all lectures for their assigned class(es) and providing two 1-hour study sessions per week. Peer supplemental instruction leaders/tutors will also serve as role models for other Southwest students.

Every tutor must relate well to children, possess good oral communication skills, and perform related tasks as assigned. The Southwest STARS (Saluqi Tutors Achieving Reading Success) Program is a reading tutoring program led by Southwest Tennessee Community College in partnership with local educational agencies, specifically Libertas School of Memphis, Promise Academy, and Capstone Education Group. Recent legislative changes will impact potential fourth grade level retention based on a student’s third grade English Language Arts (ELA) TCAP scores. As a result, this grant will provide key early interventions to move students from scoring Below or Approaching grade level to Met or Exceeded. Each student should be tutored for two hours per week for 18 weeks and totaling 36 hours of tutoring instruction. At the end of the tutoring semester, students should be able to score a proficiency in their reading test.
Job Duties
<ul>
<li>Tutor assists elementary aged children in the development of reading skills.</li>
<li>Tutor students in one-on-one or small group sessions.</li>
<li>Tutor will collaborate with the program coordinator to assess the student’s needs and how best to address them.</li>
<li>Tutor is required to complete competency training prior to work starting as a tutor.</li>
<li>Tutor must provide his/her own transportation.</li>
<li>Unexcused and excessive absences or unsatisfactory performances will be grounds for dismissal.</li>

Compensation and Hours
Each applicant must be able to commit to working a minimum of 4 hours over 2 days per week, going up to 16 hours over 4 days per week, serving up to 3 students&nbsp;per hour and up to 24 students per semester. The hours for tutoring are flexible but should occur in the morning, early afternoon, or after school.
Each hour will be spent with the students, though a small part of each hour is devoted to preparing, wrapping up, and record keeping. Tutoring will take place in either a Southwest Tennessee Community College campus/center or one of the partner schools. Tutors must arrange their work schedules with the tutoring program coordinator.
Tutoring wages are $28 per hour.

Position Summary: Pellissippi State Community College is seeking qualified contract instructors for its Workforce and Community Development Programs to meet the needs of our area workforce. We provide customized training for entry level employees as well as for professional advancement. Specific training is conducted at the request of business and industry partners. We also offer open enrollment courses for individuals seeking to upgrade their skills.
 Instructors work on a part-time, temporary contract to provide educational instruction for a specific class, workforce training, or youth camp. Instructors are expected to be subject matter experts on their topic, will be responsible for delivery of instruction, and may be responsible for developing instructional materials.

Minimum Qualifications
<ul>
<li>Received a degree from regionally accredited institution of higher learning OR
</li>
<li>Matriculated student seeking a degree in an area of education (or related fields) OR
</li>
<li>Matriculated student who has received an A or B in English Composition course(s) OR

<li>High school student who has a 3.0 GPA, passed English 2 End of Course Test, and 16 years old;</li>
<li>Completion of and Competency in Early Reading Training, provided by Southwest, that is comprised of a full week of training on foundational reading skills that incorporate lessons concerning print concepts, phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, decoding, and vocabulary

Compensation and Hours
Each applicant must be able to commit to working a minimum of 4 hours over 2 days per week, going up to 16 hours over 4 days per week, serving up to 3 students&nbsp;per hour and up to 24 students per semester. The hours for tutoring are flexible but should occur in the morning, early afternoon, or after school.
Each hour will be spent with the students, though a small part of each hour is devoted to preparing, wrapping up, and record keeping. Tutoring will take place in either a Southwest Tennessee Community College campus/center or one of the partner schools. Tutors must arrange their work schedules with the tutoring program coordinator.
Tutoring wages are $28 per hour.

PART-TIME POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT
Substitute Instructor

General Duties: Monitor individual or groups of students in an assigned program, reinforce instruction as directed
by the program instructor; direct group activities as assigned; provide support to students upon instructor’s
absence; operate certain types of equipment; distribute and collect daily assignments.
Specific Duties:
1. Follow all rules, policies, and procedures of Tennessee College of Applied Technology Crump, along with
state and federal regulations pertaining to school issues.
2. Provide learning guidance to students in program areas
3. Maintain secure classroom environment upon program instructor’s absence
4. Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff
5. Perform simple clerical tasks proficiently
6. Maintain classroom cleanliness

Minimum Qualifications:
1. High school diploma or equivalent required. Post-secondary diploma preferred.
2. Courteous and pleasant demeanor with coworkers and public are required
3. Willing to work a flexible and varying schedule as needed
4. A valid driver’s license for the State of Tennessee
5. Established work history, reference and criminal background check will be required

JOB SUMMARY
SI leaders are essentially study group leaders.&nbsp; The group study sessions are commonly referred to as "SI sessions."&nbsp; This position requires the SI leader to have excellent communication and instructional skills to adapt his/her teaching style to meet the needs of a group of students. The SI leader is regularly required to implement instructional activities in group tutoring sessions.
&nbsp;ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
