Each appointment is for up to two years, and renews after the first year based on funding availability and scholar performance. Each scholar will have the opportunity to work on projects that aim to advance knowledge, practice, and policy at the intersection of K-12 computer science education and research practice partnerships that serve minoritized communities. The overarching goal of the appointment is to strengthen capacity (i.e., knowledge, skills, practices, literacies) among recent education doctoral graduates whose scholarship engages with Computer Science (CS) and other STEM disciplines among learner groups traditionally marginalized in STEM + C fields (e.g., predominantly Hispanic-serving K-12 environments). Scholars will participate in a co-generative mentorship model that will involve participation in existing K-12 social science research projects—with the goal of additionally developing and implementing independent research programs in related fields within their time as post-doctoral researchers. Scholars will be co-mentored by project investigators (i.e., PI/Co-PIs/Senior Personnel) who will provide apprenticeship in: designing and enacting research projects, competitively pursuing extramural funding to support research, and mentoring students. Duties include on-call responsibilities during non-business hours including evenings and weekends to respond to technical support issues. Statement of Duties and Responsibilities: <ul><li>Coordinate the administrative activities required to support network, server configuration, hardware and software installation, maintenance, support, documentation, and operating procedures in a Higher Education environment</li><li>Responsible for managing the functionality and efficiency of servers running Window Server or Linux OS</li><li>Maintains the integrity and security of servers and systems</li><li>Makes recommendations for hardware and software purchases</li><li>Interacts with third-party technology vendors and internal Information Resources' teams</li><li>Conducts systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies</li><li>Duties may include installing new software, troubleshooting, granting permissions to applications and training users</li><li>The Enterprise System Administrator is responsible for the day-to-day support of servers' infrastructure</li><li>Performs Server administration for Server Operating Systems</li><li>Performs administration of physical and virtualized servers</li><li>Responsible for the configuration, maintenance and troubleshooting of physical server hardware</li><li>Configures, maintains and troubleshoots network related interfaces on servers</li><li>Performs OS and vendor software patching on servers</li><li>Develop and execute system security procedures including audits of user rights and operation system security</li><li>Write Advanced PowerShell scripts that are designed for Enterprise systems administration, automation and improvements</li><li>Evaluate software applications/hardware products to determine potential use and compatibility with current systems</li><li>Provides input and follows a Disaster Recovery Plan for Physical and Virtual Servers</li><li>Executes Security Compliancy processes and policies</li><li>Executes necessary configurations to ensure compliance with back-up and disaster recovery policies and procedures</li><li>Remain up to date on products available in the market; support new technologies</li><li>Virtual Server Configuration: primarily working within a VMware environment, potentially performing move and add changes as well as upgrades of the VMware infrastructure</li><li>Administration and maintenance of Active Directory and VMware environments </li><li>Application virtualization; working with hardware, software, and configurations at datacenter locations as well as with Cloud Platforms</li></ul> <li> Other duties may be assigned Supervisory Responsibilities: No supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Required Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree from four-year college, university or an equivalent combination of education and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions. and Experience: Three years of experience in the field of Information Technology, related to the statement of duties and responsibilities; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Knowledge of common server hardware architecture including servers (CPU, bus, memory), SANS, disk arrays, network hardware. Excellent understanding of Operating Systems (e.g., Windows, LINUX, VAX/VMS, VMWare vSphere) including processes, files, memory management and I/O systems; distributed information systems including 2 and 3 tier designs, and web-based systems; networking services and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, SSL, FTP, Telnet, LDAP). Basic understanding of IP networking, basic routing, TCP ports and network services, including SSH, LDAP, SFTP and HTTP(S). Basic understanding of change control and configuration management, patch management, high availability systems, structured design and support methodologies. Program system support tasks in C, Java, Perl, batch, PowerShell or other general-purpose programming language; perform complex performance analysis including system processes, I/O subsystems, networks and other related components. Occasional travel may be required. Preferred Skills, and Qualifications: Three years of experience working in a fast paced, DevOps, team oriented, enterprise level, and managing information systems, related hardware/software, and associated business processes focused to push the organization forward is preferred. Experience innovating and championing new technologies within a team environment. Highly skilled in oral and written communications with the ability to work as an independent, productive, responsible, self-motivated member of a team in high-pressure situations. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, planning, and strong problem-solving skills desired, while demonstrating ability to work adeptly with employees at all organizational levels to efficiently and effectively prioritize, utilize, and meet project deadlines.
