Postdoctoral Fellow (2 Positions) The University of Texas at El Paso College of Education is thrilled to announce a cluster hire of two (2) full-time Postdoctoral Fellows for the newly forming research cluster "RAISE - Research Academic-Work Integration in STEM Education." The vision of the RAISE research center is to be an international and national leader in academic-work integration research. We aim to (a) conduct field defining research to gain comprehensive knowledge of the challenges, opportunities, and implications of combining education with employment for our students at UTEP and other Hispanic Serving Institutes (HSIs) as a model for other universities, (b) investigate students' experiences in workplace learning, and (c) integrate labor data into workforce development planning. Research will be used for policy recommendations and the design of interventions for our and other students. The interdisciplinary team cluster comprises researchers in STEM education, educational leadership, socio-cultural foundations of education, engineering, and leadership of career services for students on campus. Assistant Professor in History The History Department at the University of Texas at El Paso invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of History focusing on 20th and 21st century Black History. We invite applications from scholars with a wide range of interests, including, but not limited to, subjects such medicine and public health, migration, Afro-Latino, gender and/or Black women's history, history of sexuality, political history, or intellectual history. While the candidate's scholarly research interests do not solely have to focus on African American or US history, the candidate is required to teach Intro to African American history, and the History of the US, 1865-Present survey and preferably an African History course and Intro to African Diasporic Studies. The successful candidate should have a robust research agenda, ideally involving borderlands, transnational migrations, or global perspectives that will strengthen our PhD program. The department is known internationally for its doctoral program in Borderlands history. This program, which has about 35 students, capitalizes on our location on the U.S.-Mexico border, and encompasses both conceptual and comparative borderlands in global context. Assistant Professor of Instruction/Lecturer/Site Coordinator for Miner Teacher Residency (MTR) The Site Coordinator plays a critical role in teacher preparation at UTEP. They are full-time clinical faculty members who are partially housed within partnering, PK-12 school districts/campuses. Site coordinators serve three major roles. They serve as (1) the liaison between the university and school district, (2) instructors for college courses and mentor teacher trainings, and (3) instructional coaches for their teacher candidates. Site Coordinators form part of a vibrant professional team supported by Lead Site Coordinators. This is a grant-funded position with a focus on Computer Science teacher preparation and is subject to availability of funds.
