GENERAL POSITION INFORMATION Position Name:&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; Sports Medicine Clinical Instructor Classification:&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;hourly non-exempt, non-benefits eligible FTE:&nbsp; &nbsp;&lt; 0.50 FTE Work Hours:&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;variable Department/Division:&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Sports Medicine Supervisor:&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Director, Sports Medicine 2. POSITION SUMMARY Sports Medicine Clinical Instructors in the Sports Medicine program provide sports medicine clinical care to active persons, and further serves as an in-person supervisor for students enrolled in the Masters of Sports Medicine Program at University of Western States. This position is local to events around the Portland, OR, metro-area and Western Oregon. 3. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 45% - Provide proper care of sports related &nbsp; injuries and illnesses, including evaluation/diagnosis, first aid, taping, bracing, and emergency care as appropriate under Oregon law for the individual’s licensed profession.&nbsp;5% - Properly and effectively communicate to athletes, coaches, staff, and other &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp; health care professionals and provide proper healthcare referrals as appropriate to necessitate the standard of care.&nbsp;50% - Oversee students’ duty hours onsite at sports medicine events. Provide students with educational opportunities and oversee care provided at events.&nbsp;4. POSITION QUALIFICATIONS Education &amp; Training Required: •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Bachelors Degree in Athletic Training&nbsp;OR•&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) with a master’s degree in sports medicine, exercise science, or closely related discipline. Education &amp; Training Preferred:•&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Master’s Degree in Athletic Training Certifications &amp; &nbsp;Licenses Required:•&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;All applicants must have and maintain current CPR/AED Certification.&nbsp;•&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;ATs: Active Oregon AT license in good standing or ability to attain within 45 days.OR•&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;DCs: Active Oregon DC license in good standing or ability to attain within 45 days.Certifications &amp; &nbsp;Licenses Preferred:•&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Attainment of additional credentials related to sports medicine or exercise science, such as CCSP, CES, PES, etc.•&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;DCs Only: Attainment of CCSP, DACBSP, or other post-graduate credentials related to sports medicine or exercise science.&nbsp;Experience Required:•&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Minimum one full year of clinical practice in the field of sports medicine or similar patient care.&nbsp;AND •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Minimum one year of post-graduate teaching experience at the master’s level or higher, such as a TA, Adjunct Faculty, etc.&nbsp;Experience Preferred:•&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;At least two years clinical experience in sports medicine&nbsp;AND•&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Two years instructional experience in a master’s degree program or higher.Related Knowledge, Skills, &amp; Abilities Preferred: •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Prior clinical teaching and/or clinical supervisory experienceOther Qualifications Required:•&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Strong clinical skills •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Highly professional demeanor and communication skills •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Considerable commitment to quality patient care&nbsp; •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Professional integrity, sound judgment and accountability in decision making •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Alignment with UWS’s Mission, Vision, and Values •&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;Strong desire and ability to supervise and mentor students in a clinical environmentAPPLICATION, SCREENING AND HIRING PROCESS: Screening of applicants will begin immediately, and the position will remain open until filled.
