<h4>What The Role Is</h4>The Wind Engineer will support an OEM-specific subset of Clearway’s wind turbine fleet, which includes a diverse array of original equipment manufacturers, capacities, and project lifecycle stages. Primary responsibilities include supporting the field operations team through project management, on-site support, and resolution of operational or equipment-related issues identified during O&amp;M activities. Senior Project Engineer, Solar/BESS

<h4>What The Role Is</h4>Reporting to the Director, Development Engineering, the Senior Development Engineer, Solar/BESS owns preliminary design and technical scope development for early-stage projects, managing internal and external personnel to provide well-optimized plant designs, cost estimates, and schedules based on limited information that will be integrated into project development, PPA bidding, and acquisition diligence processes.Typical projects include utility-scale Solar and Energy Storage projects and standalone Energy Storage projects. The Senior Development Engineer will work closely with Clearway Energy’s internal departments including origination, development, construction, procurement, project finance, and O&amp;M; as well as with EPC contractors, Independent Engineers, financing parties, and other consultants, contractors, and stakeholders as needed.This position can be based in our Scottsdale, San Francisco, or Houston office, or can work remotely.<h4>What You'll Be Doing</h4><ul><li>Technical lead and primary design and engineering point of contact for the Origination, Business Development, and Development teams supporting new energy storage and utility-scale solar bidding opportunities.</li><li>Manage all resources internally or externally as necessary to prepare preliminary designs, performance estimates, cost estimates, schedules, and risks to be incorporated into binding and non-binding proposals.</li><li>Assess and thoroughly communicate and quantify preliminary site constraints, cost adders, and schedule risks.</li><li>Provide optimized equipment selection (modules, inverters, racking).</li><li>Manage and communicate key acquisition diligence requirements and costs on new opportunities.</li><li>Represent Clearway Energy in interviews, meetings, and negotiations with clients, project developers, suppliers, consultants, utilities, and regulatory authorities.</li><li>Support competitive RFP EPC contracting process with design basis development, scope creation, and bid analysis.</li><li>Attend and/or manage personnel who will attend site walks to gather preliminary site assessment information to be used in the early-stage design and scoping documentation.</li><li>Technical support and management of internal business development programs and initiatives.</li></ul><h4>What You'll Bring</h4><ul><li>B.S. degree in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering, or a related subject.</li><li>5+ years of energy industry experience, including 2+ years of direct EPC experience completing the detailed design, permitting, and construction of solar and/or energy storage projects.</li><li>Understanding of project design and optimization tradeoffs and familiarity with the current market, equipment suppliers, contractors, typical technical specifications, and costs.</li><li>Experience and understanding of standalone battery storage project design, optimization, suppliers, specifications, and costs; including contracting approaches and ability to integrate with other co-developed or existing generator facilities such as solar or wind.</li><li>Experience with project financing and independent engineer requirements.</li><li>Understanding of energy estimates, losses, assumptions, and standards.</li><li>Experience with review and negotiation of engineering, procurement, and construction contracts and technical exhibits for solar and/or energy storage facilities.</li><li>Experience managing consultants and contractors.</li><li>Working knowledge of relevant US and IEC equipment standards, codes, and construction practices.</li><li>Detail-oriented and self-motivated with the ability to perform in a dynamic and collaborative working environment.</li><li>Proven ability to organize and prioritize work, and manage relationships with clients, colleagues, consultants, and contractors.</li><li>If you don’t meet 100% of the above qualifications but see yourself contributing, please submit your resume.</li></ul><h4>What Would Be Nice</h4><ul><li>M.S. degree and/or P.E. in mechanical, electrical, or civil engineering desirable.</li></ul>Clearway will not sponsor nonimmigrant visas for this position (H-1B, TN, E-3, etc.).The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, relevant and demonstrated experience, education, training and certifications, and other factors permitted by law.
