Job Summary: Position is responsible for the maintenance, design, and installation of infrastructure and production equipment, buildings, and grounds.&nbsp; At times this position may require more than eight hours daily and more than five days weekly to complete assignments. Job Responsibilities: (May include, but are not limited to, the following) Core Responsibilities: <ul><li>Plans, designs, and administers various engineering projects and programs related to traditional facilities infrastructure and production equipment.&nbsp;Will routinely interface with internal customers, contractors, and suppliers.</li><li>Provides engineered solutions for equipment modifications or new equipment purchase recommendations to achieve production goals.</li><li>Coordinate with suppliers and contractors on procurement of facilities and production equipment support; tests newly installed machines to ensure fulfillment of contract specifications.</li><li>Generate scope of work documents, cost estimates, equipment change documentation.</li><li>Oversee contracted services as needed for equipment installs, modifications &amp; repairs.&nbsp; Monitor their activities to ensure safe work practices.</li><li>Create or update existing 2D &amp; 3D models of mechanical parts, schematics or systems using Autodesk AutoCAD and Inventor software.</li><li>Collaborate with maintenance, electrical engineers, process engineers, safety engineers, and other disciplines in the coordination of system upgrades / installs.</li><li>Perform engineering calculations, collect data and gather information to support equipment improvement initiatives for OEE improvements.</li></ul> Additional Responsibilities: <ul><li>Provide field engineering and troubleshooting assistance to support maintenance, EHS and operation groups.</li><li>Perform observations, audits, etc. to support EHS initiatives.</li><li>Performs other work-related duties as assigned by the Facility Engineering Manager.</li></ul> Basic Qualifications: <ul><li>Education: BS degree in an engineering or technology discipline.</li><li>Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Our state-of-the-art investment casting facility in LaPorte, Indiana is seeking an SLM Post Processing Engineer to join our team. Nestled halfway between South Bend and Chicago, along the shores of Lake Michigan - our facility in LaPorte, Indiana supplies jet engine components to some of the most trusted names in the Aerospace industry. The SLM Post Processing Engineer will be instrumental in determining a method to historize all SLM production inspection for engineering review.&nbsp; Be responsible to automate part acceptance script via incorporation of customer print and life of die tolerances versus obtained inspection data, creation of standardized submittal format by customer for all SLM parts, creation of a Pareto tool for part submittals; easily showing trends by feature and part number and creation of a tool that allows engineering the ability to create/trend part capability from historized data. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: <ul><li>Ability to interpret complex blueprints, instructions, and inspection requirements</li><li>Utilize Analysis and 3D CAD software such as GOM, ATOS, Siemens NX, Geomagic, and Polyworks to interpret part geometry and complete SLM inspections and color maps</li><li>Use of basic and advanced metrology equipment</li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft office, especially Excel</li><li>Good communication skills, both verbal and written</li><li>Team-oriented attitude</li><li>Knowledge and application of statistics and six sigma methodologies.</li><li>Safety Awareness</li><li>GOM, visual basic, and Python experience preferred</li><li>Working knowledge of SLMs and their applications, including setup, hardware and software programming.</li><li>Practiced familiarity with Layout Inspection procedures and results.</li><li>Ability to interpret complex blueprints, instructions, and inspection requirements.</li><li>Extensive knowledge of GD&amp;T applications specifically datum structure, profile both surface and line, positional tolerance, application of composite versus two single segment tolerance, tolerance of form and tolerance stack up analysis.</li><li>Higher math skills, especially algebra, trigonometry, and geometry.</li><li>Independent, self-motivated worker able to concentrate on difficult tasks for long periods of time or be multi-tasking.</li><li>Computer fluency, including Microsoft Office applications and AutoCAD / Siemens NX.</li><li>Good communication skills, both verbal and written.</li><li>Team-oriented attitude.</li><li>Safety awareness</li></ul> JOB RESPONSIBILITIES: <ul><li>Consume raw inspection records into an automated script which allows for determination of part acceptance.</li><li>Define, scope, and create necessary infrastructure to allow historization of inspected product.</li><li>Coordinate with part number engineering.
