POSITION SUMMARY
&nbsp;
The Preventive Maintenance Technician (PM Tech) position assists in the repair and maintenance of the College’s mechanical, electrical, plumbing and other internal systems such as doors, keys and locksets. The College is seeking PM Tech’s to assist our trade supervisors in the following areas: Carpentry, Plumbing, and HVAC. These duties include but are not limited to: working on door closers, hinges and doors, installing sheetrock, changing filters, greasing pumps, cleaning coils, changing belts, greasing and changing bearings, servicing pumps &amp; motors, repairing toilets &amp; sinks, and servicing/maintaining/tracking equipment and inventory relevant to the department. Uniforms and personal protective equipment will be provided and must be worn at all times. This position reports to the Director and Executive Director of Plant Operations.

<li>Typical Duties &amp; Responsibilities:</li>
<li>Perform a variety of tasks in the installation, repair and maintenance of:</li>
<li>Electrical systems and equipment</li>
<li>Doors and door hardware</li>
<li>Framing, hanging sheetrock and painting</li>
<li>Hanging acoustic ceiling tile and grid</li>
<li>Plumbing systems; both basic and complex</li>
<li>HVAC / Mechanical equipment</li>
<li>Assist trade supervisors in day-to-day routine, preventative and reactive maintenance</li>
<li>Read plans and blueprints in the performance of work</li>
<li>Promote, support, and participate in student recruitment and retention efforts</li>
<li>Support the efforts of the Director and Executive Director of Plant Operations</li>
<li>Perform other job-related duties as assigned</li>
<li>Knowledge, Skills, &amp; Abilities:</li>
<li>Knowledge of the principles and methods of electrical installation, repair, and maintenance; of occupational hazards and safety precautions; and of industrial electrical equipment</li>
<li>Knowledge of mechanical systems, pumps, motors, refrigeration/freezer equipment, etc.</li>
<li>Knowledge of plumbing including valves, pipes, pipes connectors, etc.</li>
<li>Skilled in oral and written communication consistent with giving and receiving instruction; problem identification and resolution; interpersonal skills consistent with establishing and maintaining effective working relationships</li>
<li>Ability to multi-task and work both independently as well as with other members of the team</li>
<li>Strong aptitude for problem solving</li>
<li>Customer service oriented; polite and professional at all times</li>
<li>Ability to operate the necessary tools and equipment required in the performance of duties; to read and follow plans and blueprints; and to use fingers, hands, and arms to manipulate wiring, etc. to work in confined areas, to distinguish color and depth</li>

<li>Required Qualifications:</li>
<li>Education and Training: High School Diploma or GED and completion of standard apprenticeship in the electrical trade</li>
<li>Work experience: Three (3) years full-time work experience in carpentry, electrical, mechanical and/or plumbing trade</li>

Minimum Qualifications

• Five years of work experience in the industrial maintenance profession. • Knowledge of digital textbooks and digital learning resource platforms.

• Provide instruction to students in all phases of the Industrial Maintenance Integrated Automation Technology program curriculum • Monitor, grade, and evaluate individual students' progress, maintain student records in the college's student records management software, maintain appropriate documentation, and submit timely reports • Maintain good public relations with related industries and an active program advisory committee • Collaborate with outside agencies and industry to establish work-based education experiences for students • Collaborate with K-12 education partners to establish dual enrollment to full-time enrollment pathways as needed • Other duties include curriculum development, program accreditation, daily lesson planning, student recruitment and placement, follow-up of program graduates, participation in professional development activities, and student organizations

• Bachelors degree in architecture, engineering, construction management or related field and 10 years experience in educational, institutional, or commercial construction projects. • Experience as a project manager for higher education facilities design and construction • Current registration as an architect/engineer, or qualifying experience to obtain registration in Tennessee.

Proficient with Microsoft Office. Excellent communication skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
