ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
65%&nbsp;&nbsp; A.&nbsp; TEACHING:&nbsp; Develop and teach Studio Art courses to a diverse student population using both traditional and alternative delivery formats (hybrid, web, cohort, accelerated). Prepare course syllabi, course materials, evaluate student learning, and maintain class records. Primary courses will include Ceramics: Handbuilding, Ceramics: Throwing, and Drawing I. Additional courses may include Foundations II (3D Design), Life Sculpture, and Special Topics courses in Ceramics media. Willingness and potential to teach Art History Survey I and II both in the classroom and/or online preferred.
20%&nbsp;&nbsp; B.&nbsp; SERVICE/OUTREACH:&nbsp; Participate in program/curriculum development and assessment, student advising, department meetings, and college boards and committees. Contribute to the general oversight and maintenance of related equipment and facilities. Perform related duties as assigned.

JOB STANDARDS:
A. Completed Master of Fine Arts degree in Ceramics, with at least 18 graduate hours in Ceramics specific coursework from a regionally accredited institution.
B. Minimum one-year related teaching experience at the postsecondary level in 3D media (community college experience preferred).
C. Understanding and acceptance of the comprehensive community college philosophy.
D. Practicing professional in their field with credible exhibition experience.&nbsp;Maintains recognized professional artistic activity which may include scholarly research; participate in exhibitions and/or presentations of work; engage in field-specific activities.
Part-time work experience is calculated at 50% of full-time experience.
CRITICAL SKILLS/EXPERTISE/EXPERIENCE:

<li>Experience teaching and/or ability to create curriculum and teach beginning and advanced ceramics courses (knowledge of both handbuilding and throwing)</li>
<li>Experience teaching and/or ability to teach drawing and 3-D design with associated media</li>
<li>Established pedagogy/philosophy in teaching both foundations level and advanced visual art courses</li>
<li>Knowledge of historical/traditional and contemporary movements in visual art</li>
<li>Experience maintaining physical oversight of the teaching classroom and kiln facility including but not limited to: materials organization, classroom storage and configuration for students and equipment, kiln loading and firing, glaze mixing and glaze and related ceramic materials coordination</li>

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
70% Teach Engineering Technology classes (most specifically Electrical Engineering Technology). Create instructional materials and laboratory experiences and teach courses at a variety of times in response to institutional needs, evaluate students’ progress toward achievement of stated student learning outcomes and inform them in a timely manner of their progress in the course, contribute to management of labs, and equipment, develop or update course syllabi for courses within the college guideline and curriculum as necessary to remain current with the industry, reviews, evaluates, and recommends student learning materials.&nbsp; Work with other faculty, staff, and local industries and organizations to continually refine and improve the Electrical Engineering Technology and Electromechanical programs. Such duties to be performed include developing new course materials or courses as required to maintain program currency in emerging technologies in the field of Electrical Engineering Technology and Electromechanical Technology; completing assessment requirements relative to the program.
10% Advise students. JOB OBJECTIVE: Develop and teach Video Production Technology courses. Contribute to the general oversight of a HDTV studio facilities and related equipment. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
60% A. Develop and teach courses related to the design, production and delivery of visual media and prepare course syllabi and materials.
20% B. Evaluate student learning, maintain class records, contribute to management of labs, and equipment.
20% C. Participate in curriculum development, student advising, professional development activities, departmental meetings, college advisory boards, and committee meetings. Work with other Media Technology staff and faculty to obtain grants, recruit new students, retain existing students, work with advisory board to develop and modify curriculum. <li>&nbsp;Master’s Degree in Video or media-related field from a regionally accredited college or university to include 18 graduate semester hours in Video, Communication or Media-related courses preferred. Or Bachelor’s degree in Video or media-related field from a regionally accredited college or university and professional experience sufficient to meet SACS criteria. Tenure will be contingent on applicant obtaining or achieving significant progress towards a Master’s Degree as above.</li>
<li>Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated practical work experience in a relevant video-related environment. (More experience is desirable)</li>
<li>Understanding of media convergence and the importance of multidisciplinary education as taught in the Media Technologies program at Pellissippi State.</li>
<li>Higher education teaching experience beyond the level of Teaching Assistant or Research Assistant. (Community College teaching experience, or a clear commitment to the community college ethos preferred.)</li>
<li>Understanding of online delivery of courses and the importance of creating an online community with students to include social media such as online portfolios, blogs, and social networking</li>

Funding Metrics and Program Development: Work closely with the Tennessee Board of Regents (TBR), regional stakeholders, and industry partners to develop programs that align with state and local industry needs, enhancing workforce readiness and job placement outcomes. Collaborate on initiatives to meet the funding metric goals of the Tennessee Higher Education Commission (THEC) funding formula, ensuring Vol State maximizes funding opportunities through student success and completion metrics. Foster partnerships with the Tennessee Colleges of Applied Technology (TCATs) and four-year institutions to build and strengthen articulation agreements, providing students with clear pathways for transfer and career advancement. Communication and Transparency: Develop and implement a communication strategy that fosters transparency and regular updates across the College community. Draft communications on behalf of the President and ensure messaging is aligned with college priorities and values. Serve as a central resource for providing updates and ensuring the College community is informed about institutional goals, initiatives, and outcomes. Strategic Planning and Execution: Collaborate with the President and leadership team to develop and monitor strategic goals, ensuring alignment with Volunteer State’s mission, vision, and annual objectives. Facilitate and oversee the planning and implementation of projects across divisions, identifying opportunities for improvement and ensuring project timelines and objectives are met. Act as a liaison between the President’s office and departments to advance key institutional priorities, track progress, and evaluate outcomes. Internal Planning and Cross-Departmental Alignment: Lead initiatives to enhance cross-departmental collaboration, aligning efforts and resources to meet strategic and operational goals. Create and maintain frameworks for tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) and reporting on progress across projects and departments. Coordinate and prepare materials for leadership meetings and strategic reviews. Work with each division to support the overall mission and vision and provide updates on best practices and projects. Professional Development and Growth Initiatives: Partner with Human Resources (HR) to design and implement training and professional development programs that support the growth of faculty, staff, and leadership at Volunteer State. Oversee initiatives for onboarding new employees, ensuring they receive a comprehensive introduction to the College’s values, goals, and strategic plans. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by collaborating with HR on training and development opportunities that align with institutional needs and employee feedback. Presidential Support and Operational Efficiency: Ensure the President is kept up to date on developments across the College, providing relevant context and insights to aid in strategic decision-making. Identify opportunities for improvement, ensuring proactive solutions that align with the College’s mission and the President’s vision. Additional Responsibilities: Assist in identifying and working with senior leadership in removing barriers to effective internal operations, ensuring that College processes are optimized for efficiency and innovation. Represent the President in selected meetings and events, acting as a spokesperson when appropriate and embodying the values and mission of the College. Lead special projects as assigned by the President, with a focus on continuous institutional growth, stakeholder engagement, and community impact. Other duties as assigned.&nbsp;
Minimum Qualifications:
Master’s degree. Seven years in a senior administrative, strategic, or advisory role. 
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in higher education administration, business administration, public administration, communications, or a related field. Experience within a higher education setting.

Pay Rate: $75,057 - $93,821 annual salary depending on experience

JOB STANDARDS:
Minimum Faculty Qualifications&nbsp; All full-time and part-time faculty teaching credit-bearing courses at the associate’s degree level in the areas of humanities, fine arts, natural sciences, social and behavioral sciences, mathematics, and business administration (not including courses that are part of career/technical programs) must have at the minimum a master’s degree in their teaching field or have completed at least 18 graduate semester hours (or equivalent) in their teaching field and hold a master's degree from a regionally accredited college/university.
The Faculty member must have a minimum of one year of teaching experience at the college level.

The primary responsibility of this role is to teach lecture and lab sections of introductory general biology courses for majors and non-majors with opportunities to teach other courses as well.
