This position is responsible for serving as an assigned academic advisor for students majoring in programs in the Kinney College of Nursing and Health Professions, monitoring the academic progress of assigned advisees, assisting students and faculty with class registration activities, and resolving issues related to student academic progress and fulfillment of graduation requirements. Duties/Responsibilities&nbsp; <ul><li>Serve as a liaison between the Kinney College of Nursing and Health Professions and its students, other academic departments, and the Registrar’s Office. </li><li>Serve as an initial point of contact for students interested in College program information. </li><li>Utilize student placement scores and academic records to advise enrollment into appropriate courses, determine if enrollment exceptions are warranted; enter overrides, exceptions and substitutions as needed; and inform students of missing prerequisites and program application requirements. </li><li>Serve as a resource for University and program information for College faculty, staff, and student workers. </li><li>Advise students, maintain student records, monitor student’s graduation progress and make appropriate student referrals. </li><li>Provide advising during the major advising periods, New Student Orientation, and throughout the semester as needed. </li><li>Work with other University units to meet the advising needs of special population students, including but not limited to adult learners, student athletes, federal and state aid recipients, at-risk students, veterans, students registered with Disability Resources, and international students. </li><li>Compile and interpret data for the College advising assessment program as requested by the Kinney College of Nursing and Health Professions Advising Center Director. </li><li>Participate in the Kinney College of Nursing and Health Professions sessions at Transfer Visit Days, Open Houses, and other recruiting activities. </li><li>Keep current with University and Kinney College of Nursing and Health Professions policies, procedures, and curriculum changes. </li><li>Other duties as assigned.</li></ul> Required Knowledge and Skills <ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in any field (does not need to be in a health professions field) </li><li>Attentiveness to detail; strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple requests and handle them in an efficient and timely manner. </li><li>Must possess strong oral and written communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills. </li><li>Ability to interact effectively with students and faculty of all cultural backgrounds and experience levels. </li><li>Proficient use of computers, internet, word processing, spreadsheets, presentation and email software. </li><li>Position requires creativity and resourcefulness in developing new ideas and in outreach to current and prospective students. </li><li>Position always requires positive interaction with students, staff, faculty, and various visitors.</li></ul> Preferred Knowledge and Skills <ul><li>Master’s degree in any field. </li><li>One year experience in academic advising or related field at the college level. </li><li>Experience working with diverse group of students, including students receiving federal and state aid and students at academic risk. </li><li>Knowledge of NACADA (Global Community for Academic Advising) Core Values, CAS (Council for the Advancement of Standards) professional standards, and Federal guidelines affecting students and faculty (i.e., FERPA).</li></ul> Regular Work Hours/Travel Requirements <ul><li>Standard office hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.</li><li>Occasional irregular hours required.
