Instructors provide quality instruction for student learning and maintain a positive learning environment in the class. The major emphasis for instructors is on teaching and evaluating students in the course. Classes are taught in a variety of formats and at several different locations, as well as online. Instructors also communicate with students between classes and are responsible for several administrative duties such as reporting on academic activity and submitting final grades.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Planning and teaching classes as assigned and as outlined in the course descriptions and course syllabi and departmental guidelines.
2. Beginning and ending all classes as scheduled and covering all relevant learning outcomes for each course.
3. Maintaining academic standards and classroom behavior to ensure an environment conducive to learning, communicating with students weekly, and answering student emails in a timely manner.&nbsp;
4. Evaluating students using a variety of methods and informing each student of scores received on each assessment in a timely manner.
5. Using Cleveland State email for administrative purposes and responding to student questions via Cleveland State email in a timely manner.&nbsp;
6. Meeting deadlines for all administrative requests such as submitting personnel paperwork, acknowledging contracts, academic activity and assessment reports, and final grades.&nbsp;
7. Submitting requests through the department chair, program coordinator/director, or lead teacher for equipment, supplies, textbooks, and other instructional aids.
Qualifications:&nbsp;
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution OR an Associate degree from a regionally accredited institution in a qualifying field and demonstrated competencies such as documentation of professional certification (national, regional or state), professional employment in related field, or teaching excellence in related field.&nbsp;&nbsp;
For limited number of non-transfer courses, a Bachelor's degree in a qualifying field with two or more of the following may be considered: documentation of professional certification (national, regional or state), documentation of professional employment, documentation of teaching excellence, documentation of research and publication, documentation of relevant additional coursework beyond Bachelor's degree equivalent to 18 graduate semester hours or equivalent subject matter coursework, CEU's, military, vendor training, etc.
Availability/Closing Date:&nbsp;This posting is not a guarantee of an open position. Future teaching assignments are on a term-by-term basis, which may include fall, spring and summer. Job Duties:
Instructors will need to prepare lessons in the Blackboard LMS using OER content where possible. Job Duties: • Plans and carries out instruction, instructional activities, and prepares learning materials (including OER) for online, hybrid, and in-person delivery utilizing the Blackboard LMS. (All courses have a Blackboard Shell and require use of the LMS shell.) • Provides instruction to students in the discipline areas as mentioned above or other related topics. • Prepares lesson plans (as needed), maintains records and reports on student attainment, and monitors attendance/activity and progress. • Utilizes approved online course templates and syllabus format, maintains classroom order and discipline, completes course/program assessments, early alert reports/flags, course evals, grading reports, and other related activities/reporting. • Completes required college training including annual mandatory training related to college policies, online learning training, quality assurance training, LMS training, and other related training, as needed.

Job Summary
This is a full-time, ten-month contract faculty appointment for the Business and Technology Division within the Computer &amp; Information Technologies program at Jefferson Community and Technical College (JCTC). The position requires flexibility of scheduling which will include both on-campus and online classes and is intended to teach a variety of CIT subjects such as networking, programming, and business software support.




Job Duties:

Duties and responsibilities include:&nbsp;Program Administration and Operations&nbsp;<ul><li>Serve as the primary backup to the Director, ensuring continuity in leadership and decision-making when needed.&nbsp;</li><li>Oversee day-to-day operational management, including faculty communications and enrollment tracking.&nbsp;</li><li>Manage and maintain course proposal and approval processes, working with faculty to ensure high-quality academic offerings.&nbsp;</li><li>Ensure compliance with University policies and accreditation standards, providing guidance on academic and administrative matters.&nbsp;</li></ul>Program Development and Strategic Planning&nbsp;<ul><li>Review and enhance curriculum structure, program policies, and degree requirements to align with academic goals and industry trends in collaboration with Director.&nbsp;</li><li>Gather and analyze program performance data, including enrollment trends, student outcomes, and course surveys to drive continuous improvement.&nbsp;</li><li>Identify growth opportunities, including new courses and interdisciplinary collaborations, to expand the program’s impact.&nbsp;</li></ul>Faculty and Course Support&nbsp;<ul><li>Serve as a resource for faculty, providing program support to ensure seamless course delivery.&nbsp;</li><li>Manage the technology partner relationship and oversee the academic grant process for technology platforms (e.g., AWS, Microsoft Azure) to support technical courses and student learning experiences.&nbsp;</li><li>Conduct quality reviews of syllabi and course materials to ensure consistency across academic offerings.&nbsp;</li></ul>Industry Partners and Advisory Board Support and Engagement&nbsp;<ul><li>Work with faculty and student support services to address student needs and ensure academic success.&nbsp;</li><li>Coordinate industry events and networking opportunities that enhance student learning and professional development.&nbsp;</li><li>Oversee the execution of program events, including faculty meetings, annual receptions, and advisory board meetings.&nbsp;</li></ul>Interdepartmental and External Collaboration&nbsp;<ul><li>Represent the IT program in committees, working groups, and cross-departmental initiatives at Harvard Extension School (HES) and Harvard University.&nbsp;</li><li>Partner with enrollment, registrar, academic advising, marketing, and IT support teams to ensure efficient operations and student services.&nbsp;</li><li>Foster external partnerships with industry leaders and alumni to strengthen program visibility and engagement.</li></ul>Working Conditions:Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends during peak times (e.g. program events, faculty meetings, or student networking sessions).The health of our workforce is a priority for Harvard University.
