This includes understanding work instructions, safety protocols, and communications essential to the role. This position spends the majority of time transporting product from production lines to storage areas. Working from general verbal and written instructions and according to established operating procedures, performs the following duties while cooperating with all levels within the organization in support of the four Johns Manville core values: People, Passion, Performance and Protection.Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:(Other duties may be assigned.)<ul><li>Manually or using fork/clamp lift truck, cart, or other suitable equipment, transports, stretch wraps, and stacks materials, empty pallets, semi-finished and finished products, and machinery and equipment.&nbsp; Handles materials in all areas and within or between departments and service or yard areas.&nbsp; May stretch wrap, strap, or add special labels to units as needed.</li><li>Counts and records quantity and description of materials or products unloaded, loaded, transferred, or otherwise handled between production area or warehouse and other points. Verifies quantity and description records initiated by others. In case of discrepancy, holds materials and notifies Production Supervisor or Warehouse Supervisor as applicable so that correction can be made.</li><li>Reports any mechanical or operational difficulty with truck or other equipment to supervisor.</li><li>Maintains neat and orderly equipment storage areas and other prescribed work areas. Stores material for efficient utilization of floor space.</li><li>Reports to Supervisor any materials or products seriously damaged in warehouse or on inbound shipments.</li><li>Performs a variety of miscellaneous duties such as: stenciling labels and material; applying labels to material; re-packing or re-wrapping material; sorting material, picking out and setting aside obviously defective items; patching outer wrapping on material; assisting with baling scrap material; picking up trash and cleaning/sweeping warehouse and shipping areas. Repackages material in production area.&nbsp; Receives raw and packaging materials.&nbsp;</li><li>Performs cycle counts and annual physical inventories as directed by the Warehouse Supervisor.</li><li>Performs minor maintenance and safety checks on mobile equipment and safety devices in warehouse such as Dok-Loks.</li><li>Manages time wisely and is self-motivated; handle problems on own when necessary.</li><li>Instructs and trains new or transferred employees.</li><li>Delivers or assists in delivering bagged binder, batch, or other ingredients to the points of use, up to and including storeroom parts, baled products, cartons, or pallets.</li><li>Empties scrap containers using lift truck and automatic dumpers and compactors.&nbsp; Transports baled scrap to open tops and loads to maximum capacity.&nbsp;</li><li>Performs a variety of miscellaneous duties such as receiving materials, sorting defective materials, transporting scrap and edge trim to balers, unitizing loads by stretch wrapping or banding, palletizing or un-palletizing materials, patching or repackaging materials.
