Accounting Manager

UIW Mission


Position Summary
The Accounting Manager is responsible for managing, planning, directing and coordinating the daily accounting operations of the professional schools and the general ledger accounting for UIW. This involves performing routine and complex accounting and analytical work. The Accounting Manager reports to the Assistant Comptroller.

Essential Functions


Job Duties


Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to apply accounting principles and practices to non-profit accounting.
  • Ability to prepare a variety of financial statements, reports, and analyses, as well as interpret and analyze financial documents and reports.
  • Ability to analyze, review, and reconcile accounts.
  • Ability to analyze and evaluate accounting problems. Ability to prepare and review work papers for internal and external audits.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to prepare clear and concise reports.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, and use rational judgment in making work-related decisions.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, management, community, and general public.
  • Ability to provide exceptional customer service.
  • Skill in operating a calculator and/or a ten key adding machine.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office applications, databases, spreadsheets, and /or word processing.
  • Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.
  • Employee shall adhere to all applicable rules and regulations of the University, the Conference, and the NCAA.


Required Education
Bachelor's Degree with a concentration in Accounting.

Required Work Experience
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of professional accounting experience.
  • Two (2) years of experience in a lead or supervisory role in the field of accounting.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Non-profit accounting experience.
  • Master's Degree.
  • CPA.
  • Banner experience.

Work Hours
Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm with extended hours as needed to meet departmental goals.
