Position Title: Analytical Chemist

Reports To: Chemistry Lab Manager

Department: Research and Development

Location: Fort Collins, CO, On-site

General purpose:  Research and development of chemical methodology for automated chemical analyzers and validation of analytical performance of environmental sensors.

Primary Responsibilities

The Analytical Chemist will work under the direction of the Chemistry Lab Manager to research, develop, and maintain analytical methodologies and validate new analytical sensor performance.

  • Design and perform validation testing to ensure that water quality, process monitoring equipment, and analytical chemical methodologies meet performance expectations.
  • Lead photometric and UV-Vis reagent method development for existing and future products.
  • Create method documentation for approved methods to ensure analytical methods are well understood and reproducible.
  • Document and present research and validation results in high-quality test reports.
  • Support Operations in creating QA/QC systems to ensure our analyzers and reagents meet their analytical specifications.
  • Support Service by troubleshooting site specific chemical interferences on our analytical methods through bench testing of field samples and/or testing on site.
  • Perform or assist with field testing of developed products.
  • Provide technical chemistry support to internal teams.
  • Train and mentor junior team members, including chemists and lab techs, in skills required to support analytical chemistry methodology development.
  • Ensures compliance with environmental health and safety standards including the proper handling, storage, and disposal of chemical agents.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Knowledge

  • MS or PhD in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or equivalent field or industry experience.

Experience

  • Five years related experience in laboratory, chemical production and/or field analysis equipment.

Skills

  • Thorough understanding of chemical tests and processes.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong team player, results-oriented, and comfortable in an entrepreneurial environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Utilized and developed photometric/spectrometric based inorganic analysis methods.
  • Familiarity and experience with industrial analytical instrumentation.
  • Familiarity and experience with industrial conventional instrumentation.

Working Environment and Physical Conditions

  • Computer system data terminal
  • Normal laboratory environment, appropriate PPE provided
  • Lifting up to 30 lbs.

TOTAL REWARDS

Compensation: Compensation will be commensurate with the applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as alignment with market data and internal comps. 

Salary Range: $75,000-$110,000

Additional Compensation: Participation in a Company-sponsored variable compensation plan.
