Assistant Director of Admission
As an assistant director of admission, you will travel to effectively represent the university to talented, prospective students at school-specific events, information sessions, college fairs (according to NACAC guidelines), and conferences while building ongoing professional and institutional relationships. You will follow up with prospective students to discuss their interests and answer questions about the admission process and opportunities at SCAD, increase the positive awareness of the university in your assigned region, and plan travel to strategically identified high schools and universities. You will also deliver creative and engaging classroom presentations to students at all levels and individually meet with them to provide information about the application process.
In this role, you will work to enhance SCAD's positive reputation in your assigned region to support successful recruitment efforts. You will participate in LivePerson and online chat sessions to connect with students at various stages of the admission process and analyze applicant files to ensure their completeness. You will also proactively communicate with applicants and admitted students to determine if they are a good fit for SCAD and its opportunities. Among other duties, you will maintain accurate records in all relevant databases, manage active applicant files, and stay informed about SCAD policies and procedures to effectively convey accurate information.
The successful candidate demonstrates exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to engage diverse audiences. The candidate must be able to work well independently by prioritizing tasks and be passionate about arts and design education with a genuine enthusiasm for promoting SCAD. Flexibility throughout the recruitment year for institutional and personal growth is vital, as is the ability to confidently and positively serve as a mentor for new staff as needed.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- Ability to travel extensively
- Proficiency in using computer databases and office productivity software
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous experience in college admissions, student recruitment, or a related field
- Familiarity with Banner and Salesforce
Certificates, licenses, and registrations:
- Valid driver’s license
- Valid passport
Travel required: More than 50%
Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
