Job Summary

The Department of Biology in the College of Arts & Sciences at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY invites applications for tenure-eligible faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor in the Special Title Series (STS) with a focus on undergraduate research development and instruction. This is a 9-month position with an anticipated start date of August 1, 2025. The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s instructional and research missions, with primary responsibilities including teaching undergraduate courses and fostering undergraduate research opportunities. The standard teaching assignment will initially be two courses per semester, with a particular focus on core biology courses. In addition to teaching, the faculty member will be expected to develop innovative curricula and employ evidence-based teaching practices to promote student success. The faculty member will also mentor students in independent research, course-based undergraduate research experiences (CUREs), and other experiential learning opportunities. The successful candidate will be prepared to establish and maintain a research program suitable for undergraduate participation, including pursuing extramural funding and disseminating research findings in peer-reviewed journals.



We seek candidates with a Ph.D. in Biology. Applicants should demonstrate excellence in teaching, a commitment to undergraduate research, and a record of scholarly engagement. The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding existing programs, such as STEMCats and NSF S-STEM, to increase research participation among students, particularly first-generation students.
