Position Summary

The Philip H Hagemann Performing Arts Department at the University of Southern Indiana, a public university in Evansville, Indiana, seeks applications for a 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor of Theatre. Appointment will begin August 2025.

Duties/Responsibilities 

The assistant professor position will be expected to teach primarily face-to-face, design lighting or supervise student lighting designers for every USI Theatre production and engage in professional and university service activities. Candidate will teach a 4/4 load that will include one reassigned course time each semester for design assignments. Must teach classes in lighting design, lighting technology, and introduction to theatre, and may teach additional design, technology or programming courses based upon expertise. The successful candidate will be skilled in Vectorworks and Lightwright, have knowledge of ETC consoles and in utilizing and programming moving lights.

Required Knowledge and Skills

Applicants must hold or be nearing completion of a Master of Fine Arts in Lighting Design. Applicants in the process of finishing their degree will be considered if the degree will be conferred by hire date. Professional and/or teaching experience is required.
