Howmet Aerospace is currently looking an Automation Tech to join our Dover Casting group in Dover, New Jersey. The work hours for this job are on an off shift. Training will occur on Day Shift (Monday - Friday 6:00 - 2:30p) for several months.

This position will receive an hourly "shift premium" while assigned to an off-shift.

JOB SUMMARY
Programs various brands of CNCs and other advanced manufacturing equipment. Modifies and maintains existing programs as well as creates new programs. Responds to help chain and resolves automated equipment issues and restores production flow. Makes recommendations and implements them to improve output, cycle times, and reduce issues. Uses power tools, hand tools, and testing instruments. Follows manuals, schematic diagrams, and blue prints. Will have the option to train on robotic equipment.

ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH & SAFETY RESPONSIBILITIES 
  • Expected to assist in the implementation of Howmet Aerospace’s EHS value and policy statement and its accompanying principles;
  • Comply with all department, facility, Corporate and Regulatory EH&S regulations.
  • Wear all required personal protective equipment;
  • Report all job-related illness and injuries. (Per employee handbook);
  • Report all Safety, Health & Environmental concerns to your supervisor in a timely manner;
  • Attend all EH&S training.


JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Job Functions
  • Provides manufacturing support and problem solving of production issues in advanced manufacturing equipment areas with a focus on CNCs. 
  • Create new programs and maintain program directories. 
  • Lead cycle time and tooling cost reduction efforts. 
  • Maintains and improves reliability and productivity of equipment.
  • Support continuous Improvement initiatives. 
  • Design fixtures/select tooling for new castings.

  • Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written)
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including night and weekends with little advanced notice


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status. ITAR defines U.S. person as an U.S. citizen, U.S. Permanent Resident (i.e. ‘Green Card Holder’), Political Asylee, or Refugee;
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States.

    Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire.  Visa sponsorship is not available for this position;
  • High School diploma or GED from an accredited institution;
  • Basic working knowledge of CNC programming using CAD/CAM and/or manual G-codes. 
  • No relocation benefit is offered for this position.  Candidates residing within a 50 miles radius of Dover NJ will only be considered.


EXPERIENCE

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Prefer Associate Degree and technical training.
  • Prefer work experience 3-5 years with related job functions such as working in manufacturing environment with hands on CNC or G-code experience with setup and machining. 
  • Prefer experience with NX, Solid Works, Mastercam programming language/software, CAD systems and Haas, DMG Mori machines a plus.
  • Mechanical aptitude and problem solving skills 
  • Prefer schematic and blueprint reading experience.
  • Understanding of electrical circuits, mechanical equipment, pneumatics, hydraulics, and programming of equipment.
