Lifting, pushing or pulling objects up to 25 lbs., ability to move around campus, and requires sitting at a computer for long periods.



Shift

40 hours/week. Monday-Friday; 8:00 AM-5:00 PM; and may require occasional evening and week-end hours.



Job Summary

The Assistant Director of CARES First-Generation Student Development initiatives. The Assistant Director will oversee the student development program, with a primary focus on first-generation students. This role includes leading the implementation and management of programs that emphasize the development of work-study students into skilled interns who actively contribute to office initiatives, enhancing their professional growth while supporting key departmental objectives. Another primary responsibility of this position is to engage in programmatic advising for first-generation students. Strategies such as intrusive advising, prescriptive advising, and proactive advising will help inform the engagement strategy that best fits the student. This position will also lead workshops to educate students and parents about navigating college and adjusting to college life and campus support networks. The program advisor associate will assist in developing and implementing communication plans and strategies to engage our students and will supplement the advising experience provided by the academic advisor.

Student Success will, from the time of early college outreach to graduation and beyond, support students in living a life of meaning and purpose. From a student-centered framework, our practice will be grounded in peer-reviewed literature, national best practices, and data-informed decision making. Collaborating with the campus and community, Student Success will work through a holistic lens to support a diverse community of learners in achieving success.

Preferred Education/Experience

Prefer at least a Master’s level degree in Education, Business, Social Work, Psychology, or a similar field with at least 4 years of related experience.
