Job Summary
The Center for Clinical and Translational Science (CCTS) is seeking a highly motivated, professional CCTS Biomarker Analysis Lab Director to contribute to the variety of perspectives and excellence of our department and to assist the faculty and staff of our fast-paced research center. The CCTS supports campus research professionals to ensure they are able to meet their research goals and ultimately improve the health of our communities and populations. Since its inception in 2006, the CCTS has invested millions of dollars into research funding and trainee support at the University of Kentucky through its commitment to funding innovative, early stage translational research. The CCTS’s vision is to catalyze clinical and translational discoveries through an integrated and transformative research environment targeting improved health, with emphasis on underserved populations in Kentucky. In support of that vision, the CCTS Biomarker Analysis Lab Director role will serve as a team member of the Clinical Research Organization.
Responsibilities for this position include assessing all services, identifying problems and proposing innovative solutions; maintain records related to operation ad services that are complete, accurate and available. The Laboratory Director will create and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders – coordinating the activities of the Biomarker Analysis Lab across CCTS and the broader research community; assessing investigator needs; developing project specific protocols for collections, processing, storage, tracking, analysis and reporting. The Laboratory Director may perform the duties of the technical supervisor, clinical research consultant, general supervisor, and testing personnel, or delegate these responsibilities to personnel meeting the qualifications. The Laboratory Director is responsible for ensuring that all duties are properly performed.
Successful candidates will possess excellent customer service, organizational, and administrative skills with a strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize projects and maintain accuracy. The candidate must have effective technical and analytical skills and have the ability to function independently and deal with multiple, simultaneous projects.
The CCTS is dedicated to broadening the range of perspectives within our staff and faculty and aims to build a team with an extensive spectrum of skills and experiences.
Skills / Knowledge / Abilities
Proficiency with immunoassays and data analysis, proficiency with MS Office Suite, familiarity with data analysis software and RedCap project management application. Strong organizational and teaching skills. Previous laboratory management preferred.
