Must have current Medical Certification (Medical Card) and Class A or B CDL.

Job Summary: 

Dump Truck Operators transport paving materials, construction supplies, and dirt to various job sites. Dump Truck Operators must operate on construction sites while abiding by safety guidelines of the job site.  

Duties/Responsibilities: 

  • Transporting crushed rock, sand, and gravel to and from specified locations. Ability to operate on varying terrains of job sites safely to deliver loads.  
  • Verify the type of material being transported and ensure the load does not exceed weight restrictions.  
  • Perform pre-trip/post trip inspection on the vehicle. All safety items must be noted and communicated for repair if necessary. This includes the engine compartment.  
  • Operate in a safe manner enroute to jobsite, on jobsite (must ensure the safety guidelines are being followed) and returning to home base.  
  • Maintain accurate records of loads delivered and ensure all paperwork is signed and turned in at the end of the shift.  
  • Must maintain valid requirements (CDL License and Medical Card) as required by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA). 
  • Maintain the cleanliness of the vehicle using tools to clean out any remaining material left after dumping.  
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by foreman/superintendent.  

Required Skills/Abilities: 

  • Ability to listen to, understand, and follow directions. Communicate effectively with crew members including written and spoken word. 
  • Ability to remain flexible as specific assignments change.   
  • Ability to work with a variety of personalities.   
  • Ability to think logically about work at hand and compare site conditions with where loads are to be placed.  

Education/Experience: 

  • Must have a valid Commercial Driver’s License class B or higher.  
  • Must have a valid Medical Examiner’s Certificate  
  • Must submit for random drug screening as required by FMCSA.  
  • Must maintain the Drug/Alcohol Clearinghouse records and report any adverse actions.  
  • Must maintain a good Motor Vehicle Report to comply with insurability for operating a company vehicle.  

Physical Requirements: 

  • Must have physical strength, balance, hand-eye coordination, and stamina necessary to complete jobs in various areas. 
  • Must be able to sit for extended periods of time while operating the vehicle.  
  • Must be able to work in all weather conditions.   
  • Must be able to climb on and operate the vehicle in a safe manner ensuring keeping a 3-point contact when entering or exiting the vehicle. 
  • Must be able to work on Saturdays and at night, when needed.  As the schedule is commonly a 6-day work week (Monday-Saturday) 

Work Location  

  • Must have own reliable transportation to staging area which vary within the Metro Nashville Area and surrounding counties.
