Job Description:

The Oregon State Hospital (OSH) Forensic Evaluation Service (FES) team is seeking a Clinical Psychologist, skilled in pretrial forensic evaluations. OSH is dedicated to inspiring hope, promoting safety, and supporting healing for patients entrusted to our care.

What you will do!

The Forensic Evaluation Service (FES) operates within the Oregon State Hospital, a Joint Commission-accredited and CMS-certified public psychiatric hospital. The hospital's mission is to provide therapeutic, evidence-based, patient-centered treatment focusing on recovery and community reintegration all in a safe environment. Clinical Psychologists within the FES prepare pretrial forensic evaluation reports for courts throughout Oregon based on applicable Oregon statutes. They also provide consultation to staff both internal and external, including treatment team members, defense attorneys, district attorneys, and judges.

This is a full-time, permanent, hybrid position.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

PRETRIAL FORENSIC EVALUATIONS AND CONSULTATION

  • Completes pretrial forensic evaluations consistent with the applicable Oregon Revised Statutes.
  • Evaluation may include, but is not limited to, fitness to proceed/competency to stand trial, guilty except for insanity, and/or diminished capacity; based on MAHPS privileging status and individual evaluators’ training and experience. Consults with the treatment teams regarding clinical progress and expected outcomes of care, as needed.
  • Completes evaluations within specified deadlines.
  • Performs job duties within MAHPS privileging specifications.

FUNCTIONS AS A MEMBER OF THE FORENSIC EVALUATION SERVICE

  • Follows APA ethical standards, standards for providers of clinical and psychological services, , and OSH policies and procedures.
  • Participates in continuing education to maintain professional competence and Oregon psychologist licensure.
  • Maintains certification as a Forensic Evaluator in the State of Oregon through the Oregon Forensic Evaluator Training Program (OFETP).
  • Attends mandatory department meetings, hospital trainings and review of policies per designated timelines and serves on departmental committees as assigned by the Director and Associate Director of FES.
  • Other duties as assigned.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

NOTE - The goal of this recruitment is to fill this position at the Clinical Psychologist 2 level.  However, we encourage candidates who meet the minimum qualifications for a Clinical Psychologist 1 to apply, as we may consider under-filling this position until the selected candidate meets the minimum qualifications for a Clinical Psychologist 2. Clinical Psychologist 1 candidates have 24 months from date of appointment to become licensed as a Clinical Psychologist by the Oregon Board of Psychologist Examiners.

Clinical Psychologist 2($10,198.00 - $11,785.00 per month)


A doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from an APA accredited university AND completion of a one-year internship in Clinical Psychology.
Applicants must be licensed as a Clinical Psychologist by the Oregon Board of Psychologist Examiners at the time of appointment.

UNDERFILL OPTION


Clinical Psychologist 1($ 8,831.00 - $ 10,200.00 per month)  


A doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from an APA accredited university AND completion of a one-year internship in Clinical Psychology.
You must be eligible for licensure as a Psychologist in Oregon.


*NOTE* - Applications will be considered if they have met all degree requirements except for completion of their one-year internship. They must be slated to complete their one-year internship in Clinical Psychology prior to their anticipated start date to be considered. 


REQUESTED SKILLS:

  • Experience working with individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.
  • Experience conducting psychological as well as pretrial forensic evaluations.
  • Obtaining and maintaining MAHPS privileging per specified deadlines.
  • Experience in advancing health equity, addressing systemic health disparities and collaborating with diverse, vulnerable and underrepresented populations.
