Job Responsibilities
Purpose of the Position:This position works to promote and protect the health and safety of the residents of Cobb and Douglas Counties. This position will assist individuals to adopt healthy behaviors related to Childhood Injury Prevention. Collect and analyze data to identify community needs prior to planning, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating programs designed to encourage childhood injury prevention. In addition, as a Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician, this position conducts inspections as scheduled for Cobb and Douglas Safe Kids Coalitions and provides educational injury prevention sessions for the public under the direction of the Injury Prevention District Coordinator.
Essential Functions (include, but are not limited to):
- Assess community needs for childhood injury prevention education
- Plan, implement and evaluate effective childhood injury prevention education programs and events.
- Certification as Child Passenger Safety Technician.
a. Obtain within 6 months of hire date and maintain throughout employment
b. Work as a Child Passenger Safety Technician during Child Safety Seat Inspection Station (CSSIS) and serves as lead technician as appropriate to skill level.
c. Consistently adhere to best practices when educating parents/caregivers regarding the use and installation of their child safety seat.
d. Collect donations from participants according to BOH policy. Maintain accurate records of each interaction with clients.
- Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in public health education from an accredited college or university OR Bachelor's degree in education, social, behavioral or biological sciences or a directly related field from an accredited college or university AND One year of experience in public health education.
Preferred Qualifications:
1.Certification as a Child Passenger Safety Technician.
2. Excellent written and oral communications skills.
3. Knowledge of health care/preventive methods and teaching practices.
4. Bilingual English and Spanish
Work Conditions & Physical Demands:
Regularly lifts up to 25 pounds, may work outside with varying temperatures. Primary office location at the Cobb County Health Department. Regular community events and activities requiring off site attendance.
Salary Information: $24/ Hr. | Up to 29 hrs./ week | Part-time No Benefits
