This position has a dual role of teaching and serving as an administrator leading and directing the program, including developing the curriculum, establishing clinical partnerships, achieving initial and ongoing accreditation, and managing the daily operations of the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) with a specialization in the Anesthesiology Program. This position works closely with the Dean, Ila Faye Miller School of Nursing and Health Professions.In all matters, faculty are expected to maintain the highest standards of professional ethics consistent with the UIW Mission. standards.• Develop and operationalize a clinical anesthesiology curriculum that provides enrolled students with required and unrestricted experiences in the perioperative process.• Organize an appropriate program governance and committee structure that facilitates effective communication and participation.• Identify and maintain required professional accreditations.• In collaboration with the Dean, Associate Deans, and other Directors, participate in strategic, institutional, financial, resource, and service planning for the program and School.• Participate in the development of and ensure compliance with policies and procedures that are consistent with the overall mission of the program and in compliance with accreditation standards and other regulatory agencies.• Oversee recruitment and enrollment of students who by academic and experiential achievement are of the quality appropriate for the profession and may benefit from their education.• Promote instructor development and contribute to annual faculty evaluations within the program.• Lead the program’s systematic plan of assessment, including the use of evaluation data from students, faculty, alumni, employers of graduates, and outcome measures of academic quality.• Oversee management of accurate records of the program’s educational activities.• Engage in clinical practice to maintain professional skills and serve as a model/resource for faculty and students.• Create program environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures or backgrounds.• Teach courses consistent with the needs of the department.• Participate in curriculum development.• Advise students and provide individual help to students during weekly office hours.• Perform regular scholarly research and publication.• Provide service to the department, college, university, community, and profession.• Comply with UIW Faculty Handbook processes and policies.• Perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsKnowledge Skills and Abilities• Knowledge of certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNA) practice and professional issues.• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.• Strong organizational, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.• Effective instructional delivery.• Proficiency in the use of instructional technology.• Ability to actively engage students in the learning process.• Ability to conduct respectful relationships with students both in and outside the classroom.• Ability to work collegially and University, the Conference, and the NCAA.Required Education• Practice Doctorate in Nursing (DNP or DNAP) from an accredited institution of higher education.• PhD in Nursing from an accredited institution of higher education.Required Work Experience• Five (5) years of full-time equivalent CRNA clinical experience.• Three (3) years of CRNA teaching and leadership experience.Preferred QualificationsExperience with program and curriculum development.Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations• Current certification/recertification by the National Board of Certification and Recertification for Nurse Anesthetists (NBCRNA).• Current unencumbered license or privilege to practice as a registered professional nurse (RN) and/or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Texas or ability to obtain by assignment start date.Work HoursTypically Monday-Friday from 8am-5pm with extended hours as needed, to include occasional work on the weekend, based on
