How will you make an impact in this role?
The Director of Executive Protection (DEP) will report to the Vice President of Executive Protection, and is responsible for supervising all functions of the company’s Executive Protection Agents (EP); liaison with the Office of Chairman; and the EP Motor Pool organization. These EP groups are responsible for the physical protection and security of the Company's most senior leaders by way of monitoring their business agendas, travel itineraries and event attendance. Although these EP groups will perform executive protection duties, there are numerous administrative responsibilities that need to be supervised by this Director role. The DEP will also manage oversight of corporate events; participate in security staffing of those events; maintain strong relationships with corporate event staff; liaison and connectivity with all AmEx Global Security personnel worldwide.
- Provide supervisory executive protection direction to EP Agents and other security-related functions in support of American Express senior leaders during domestic and/or international assignments, while working closely with our Protective Intelligence and Research Group.
- Perform Armed Security Officer (ASO) functions during travel to/from National Airport, Washington, DC.
- Conduct and oversee protective advance and event security planning with other corporate security teams globally.
- Ensure senior leaders get to/from events and appointments in and around the NY Tri-State areas..
- Respond to emergencies and perform appropriate medical aid as required.
- Act as an intermediary between events staff and external security personnel to ensure cohesive corporate event coverage and brand protection in all regions.
- Positively contribute to global security’s (GS) brand as it relates to executive protection (EP)
- Communicate vulnerabilities or safety concerns in a timely manner in order to provide effective resolutions.
- Ensure that EP team incident reports, expense reports, medical treatment reports, site survey reports, and other administrative requirements are submitted by team members in a timely fashion.
- Supervise data entries and reports associated with executive protection.
- Supervise the maintenance of protective operations and communications equipment.
- Promptly identify and escalate deficiencies/failures. And present solution options.
- Clearly communicate highest priority operational and administrative matters to your command leadership and facilitate timely resolutions.
- Other duties, as assigned.
- On-call 24/7/365.
Minimum Qualifications
- Elevated knowledge of administrative, technical, IT, computer and device applications
- Must obtain a New York State armed guard license and a HR218 retired LEO, federal carry pistol permit
- Must be qualified for a TSA/ASO certification. Corporate support for this certification is available
- Graduate from an accredited recognized US Federal Government and/or US Military Academy with extensive experience in executive protection. Example: US Secret Service (USSS); Department of State Security (DSS); etc..
- Experienced and proven supervisory experience in critical response teams
- Executive level experience and the ability to handle competing priorities and competing strong personnel
- Possess valid US driver's license
- Required to maintain a high level of confidentiality and loyalty to the corporate brand and our leadership
- Proven self-starter with excellent time management, problem solving, and decision-making skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to interface effectively with all levels of management and business partners. - Effective written/verbal communication skills
- Ability to prioritize and effectively communicate requirements to AmEx executives and Global Security leadership.
- Ability to foster positive relationships with internal and external partners
- Project management experience
- Manage diverse tasks and prioritize administrative workload with minimal direction
- Excellent organizational and follow-up skills with a high degree of attention to detail
- A high degree of energy and flexibility; proactive, self-motivated assertive and creative drive
- Must be able to demonstrate expert proficiency with firearms
- Maintain a proficient level of physical fitness
- Be available to participate in shift work on a 24/7/365 basis in a dynamic Executive Protection Operations Group
- Be available to travel domestically and internationally
- Possess a US Passport
- Meet extensive background investigation requirements
- Agree to unannounced drug and alcohol testing
- Must be able to pass medical physical
- Operate in a fast paced and stressful environment
Preferred Qualification
- A College/University degree
Salary Range: $130,000.00 to $205,000.00 annually + bonus + equity (if applicable) + benefits
