Salary Range for this position is $145,000 - $160,000. Salary Range is based on Experience and Education levels.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF Director, Research and Development, Spatialomics and GI,

The R&D Director of Spatialomics and GI will lead a team of scientists and medical writers within the R&D group to effectively disseminate evidence supporting the application and reimbursement of diagnostic, prognostic, and predictive tests. This role involves directing the organization, analysis, and presentation of clinical data, overseeing product enhancements, and advising on clinical study design. The Director will manage the creation and visual presentation of scientific messaging materials and drive innovative approaches to communicate scientific information and training to both internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, the Director will supervise the organization, auditing, and interpretation of data from scientific and clinical studies, and handle all stages of the publication process for materials such as manuscripts, conference abstracts, and training resources. Collaboration with colleagues across Program Management, Clinical Research, Lab, Marketing, Sales, Managed Care, and Medical Affairs will be essential to ensure the highest quality evidence supports Castle's products. The Director will primarily focus on directing the organization, analysis, interpretation, and presentation of clinical data; overseeing the writing and visual presentation of scientific messaging materials; and mentoring and teaching the R&D group in effective evidence development and product enhancement.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum Requirements:
    • Ph.D. level training with 4-5 years of experience in the biotech or healthcare fields, including:
      • Extensive practical experience in all phases of the publication process
      • Knowledge of statistical analyses and approaches, including experience in mentoring the appropriate use and practical application of statistical approaches.
      • Working knowledge of machine learning applications that are used in current Castle testing platforms.
    • The ability to successfully communicate and teach in a complex and competitive environment, at both a highly technical and layperson level.
    • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, written and oral.
    • Leadership skills required to delegate actions to the R&D group.
    • Mentorship skills to develop analytical techniques and interpretation among the R&D team.
    • Demonstrated team player.
    • Actively display characteristics that support the mission, vision, and values of Castle Biosciences.

SCHEDULE

  • At least 80% of the work will be in the office during standard business hours (9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.), with 10-15% travel required.
