Overview

LMI is seeking for a Education Program Coordinator to support NASA's High School Aerospace Scholars (HAS) program. We are seeking an energetic self-starter who will participate in planning, coordination, and execution of the HAS program. This role involves developing and implementing recruitment strategies, managing program communications, and facilitating both virtual and onsite educational experiences. The coordinator will work closely with NASA staff, educators, and students to ensure a seamless and impactful learning experience aligned with NASA’s educational objectives. This position allows for partial telework with the ability to travel to client sites in Houston, TX as required.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive work plan and implementation schedule for the HAS program, ensuring alignment with NASA’s educational objectives.
  • Coordinate with NASA activity managers, OSTEM, and other relevant offices to support program goals.
  • Create and execute a communication and recruitment strategy to engage students and educators throughout Texas.
  • Manage program communications, including email and phone inquiries, ensuring timely and effective responses.
  • Update and enhance academic materials, graphics, and websites for the online courses.
  • Develop and deliver training materials and sessions for students, educators, SMEs, and mentors.
  • Recruit student and faculty participants, ensuring faculty are certified Texas educators, and develop promotional materials for statewide recruitment activities.
  • Oversee the recruitment and engagement of Technical Reviewers, Design Challenge Facilitators, Game Moderators, and Onsite Counselors.
  • Implement and manage a student retention incentive plan to encourage continued participation.
  • Conduct online information sessions and disseminate promotional materials at large-scale events and through digital platforms.
  • Manage the application process using the NASA STEM Gateway, including monitoring applications and disseminating offers.
  • Design and facilitate both virtual and onsite engagement experiences, including coordinating logistics for student transportation, lodging, and activities.

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, STEM, or a related field.
  • At least 3-5 years of experience in program coordination or administration, preferably in an educational or STEM-focused organization.
  • Experience in upper-level (middle and high school) STEM education and familiarity with Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong project management skills with a proven track record of successfully implementing educational programs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience in stakeholder engagement and collaboration.
  • Familiarity with Learning Management Systems (e.g., Canvas) and online educational tools.
  • Ability to travel as required for recruitment and program activities across Texas.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to obtain a public trust clearance.

Preferred:

  • Master’s degree in Education, STEM, or a related field.
  • Experience working with NASA or other aerospace-related organizations.
  • Knowledge of gamification techniques and their application in educational settings.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training programs for educators and students.
  • Familiarity with Texas educational standards and certification requirements for educators.
  • Proven experience in developing and managing large-scale recruitment and communication strategies.
  • Experience in coordinating virtual and in-person educational events and activities.
