
External Communications Director, Corporate Brand

The Purpose of Your Role
As an external communications director on Fidelity’s corporate brand team, you are responsible for managing the creation and execution of a sustained public relations/external communications strategy aimed at enhancing Fidelity’s brand as a good corporate citizen, as it supports and uplifts the communities it serves. You will work across Fidelity, including with the business unit and marketing teams, to organize enterprise-wide and multi-channel opportunities, including the development of news and content that will positively influence external stakeholders’ perception of the brand. You also will work closely with Fidelity’s public relations agency, leveraging their creative and content expertise and maximizing their media relationships.
The Expertise We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree
- 12+ years’ experience as an external communications professional
- Media relations, marketing, content, and social media experience required
- Corporate citizenship and/or corporate reputation management-focused public relations experience preferred
- Public relations agency experience preferred

- You’re a media relations and content expert, who draws upon broad experience promoting social and community impact to influence external audiences.
- You are very strong media strategist and bring with you strong national, regional, and philanthropic media relationships.
- You have reputation expertise, successfully telling positive stories for brands, while safely protecting the brand’s reputation, even in challenging news cycles and environments.
- You are a skilled storyteller with a keen sense of how to create news that will increase how much a brand is perceived as a good corporate citizen, making an impact on customers and communities.
- You’re a creative writer and have multi-channel, integrated marketing skillsets, as well as the capability to collaborate across teams.

- Developing strong national and regional media relationships on behalf of the brand.
- Collaborating across teams to help others elevate their social impact, community impact and talent work, ultimately supporting and driving one corporate citizenship story for the firm.
- Functioning as a project manager capable of managing multiple and simultaneous projects, ensuring that all efforts meet Fidelity’s high standards in the areas of accuracy, ethics, legal and compliance.
- Being part of an integrated team across Fidelity’s Corporate Affairs organization.

The base salary range for this position is $85,000-$144,000 per year.Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate’s relevant experience, and other factors.
Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
