Fresno Pacific University’s nursing program is looking for a dedicated nursing educator to join our forward-thinking team. We are seeking an individual with specialized expertise in med-surgical, obstetrics, mental health, pediatrics, or geriatrics. Our programs, which are BRN-approved and CCNE-accredited, include a pre-licensure Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program for traditional undergraduates and a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) program with a Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) focus. The ideal candidate will collaborate with a talented group of faculty and university leadership to deliver innovative, Christ-centered service to underserved communities.

Role
 

  • Assist the BSN Program Director in the overall administration of the pre-licensure BSN program, including curriculum development, accreditation processes, and program evaluation.
  • Assist with planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical placements. 
  • Assist in recruiting, interviewing, and orienting nursing faculty and staff.
  • Assist with faculty schedules and arranging substitutions or substitutes in areas of California Board of Registered Nursing (BRN) approval.
  • Oversee student admissions, progression, and retention strategies.
  • Participate in budget planning and resource allocation for the program.
  • Develop and deliver course content for pre-licensure BSN students. Area of specialization is open but must be able to teach in one or more of the following areas:   med-surg, pediatrics, obstetrics, mental health, and/or geriatrics.
  • Provide academic advising and mentorship to students.
  • Coordinate clinical, lab, and course assignments in collaboration with the faculty team.
  • Evaluate students in class and clinical/lab settings.
  • Communicate regularly with students regarding their progress.
  • Pursue an active scholarly professional development agenda while promoting a focus on student-faculty collaborative research.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, committees, and professional development activities.

Required:
 

  • Possess an earned terminal degree in the relevant field of study. Candidates with a master’s degree or those nearing completion of a terminal degree may also be considered. All faculty members are required to have, or be willing to complete, a terminal degree.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the Christian faith and align with Fresno Pacific University's mission of Christ-centered teaching and learning.
  • Hold or be able to acquire a clear (unrestricted and unencumbered) and active California Registered Nurse license.
  • Promote a collegial and collaborative environment in interactions with students, staff, and faculty.

Preferred:
 

  • A clear (unrestricted and unencumbered) and active California Registered Nurse license.
  • Specialization in at least one clinical area: medical-surgical, critical care, OB/Women’s Health, Pediatric, Geriatric, or Psychiatric Mental Health.
  • Demonstrated effective academic and administrative leadership within BSN, RN-to-BSN, and/or MSN programs.
  • Proven experience in teaching and curriculum development, with potential for excellence in collegiate-level instruction.
  • A record or demonstrated potential for scholarly achievement, suitable for a tenure-track position.
  • Experience with licensing and accreditation processes, specifically with the California BRN and/or CCNE.
  • Experience as a California BRN-approved program director or assistant program director is highly desirable.

Environmental Conditions:
 

  • Indoors in a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes at least eighty percent (80%) of the time.
  • Frequent computer use at a workstation, up to eight hours per day.
  • Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
  • Drive personal or University vehicles to appointments.
  • Public contact position requiring professional apparel, personal hygiene, and grooming. 

Physical Demands:
 

  • This position typically functions indoors in an office environment with light to moderate noise associated with business office equipment. The position may involve travel for meetings and events.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position 80 % of the time, be able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets/office machinery, etc., operate a computer and keyboard and other office productivity machinery such as calculators/copy machines/printers. The employee is occasionally required to position self to reach items on the floor and in high cabinetry. 
  • The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Employee must be able to communicate with others to exchange information, including both over the telephone and in-person communication with callers and community members, and be able to read a computer screen and paper documents.
