Job Description and Requirements

Randolph-Brooks Federal Credit Union is currently recruiting candidates for our Part Time Information Security College Internship located at our Live Oak Administrative Service Center.  This is a paid Internship ($20.00 per hour).

The Information Security College Intern will perform tasks to maintain the data security controls implemented by the organization and mandated by best practices and regulations. The Intern will perform analysis on security events and incidents, assist with investigations, and contribute to the organization's information security posture through the performance measurement of policies and procedures based on best practices, adopted frameworks, and risk assessment activities.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Work with IT department and the information Security team to identify, select, and implement technical controls.
  • Report to manager findings concerning residual risk, vulnerabilities, and other security exposures, including misuse of information assets and noncompliance.
  • Review security configuration and operations standards for security systems and applications, including policy assessment and compliance tools, network security appliances, and host-based security systems.
  • Assist with the resolution of audit findings reported by the credit union’s internal or external auditors.
  • Assist IT staff in the resolution of reported security incidents.
  • Research information security regulations and laws affecting the credit union.
  • Keep up to date with latest security threats and vulnerabilities.
  • Assist with the maintenance of the enterprise Identity and Access Management (IAM) solution.
  • Ensure system accounts are compliant for roles and authorizations.
  • Adhere to established SLAs (Service Level Agreements), established processes, controls, and policies.
  • Assist with process documentation and system access matrices.
  • Assist with auditing systems, processes, and users to ensure compliance with the organization's information security policies and procedures.
  • Assist with security reviews with stakeholders throughout the organization, identifying gaps and developing risk mitigation plans.

Requirements:

  • Cover letter indicating your position(s) of interest and resume
  • Students should be Juniors or Seniors currently enrolled at an accredited university; in an undergraduate or graduate degree program focusing on Information Technology
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Less than one year of job-related work experience
  • Knowledge of information security roles and concepts
  • Knowledge of computer system services, patch management software, mobile device management, 3rd party patch management software, end point protection systems, data loss prevention systems, vulnerability management systems, firewalls, proxies, malware detection, and remediation processes
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Active Directory to include creating queries
  • Knowledge of creation/modification/deletion of user accounts across infrastructure applications and host-based applications
  • Strong oral/written communication, organization, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office software

Preferred:

  • Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CompTIA Linux+, or vendor related certifications from Google, Amazon, Microsoft, or Cisco.
