SUMMARY:

It is the primary responsibility of the Marketing Coordinator to assist the Visit KC Marketing & Communications team with efforts to create global passion for Kansas City. This position supports a wide range of marketing functions, both international and leisure, including email, advertising, online and media relations. The team member must be highly organized and a proactive multi-tasker willing to work simultaneously on varied diverse projects.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with marketing and communications team to coordinate day-to-day activities that lead to the completion of projects and tasks
  • Curates and compiles content for Visit KC's "Weekender" newsletter, highlighting top weekend events in Kansas City. Build and send the newsletter weekly, ensuring accuracy and collaboration with partners for up-to-date event information
  • Builds and distributes member communications, including event invitations, convention alerts, and press releases, ensuring timely and effective communication with Visit KC's members.
  • Builds out web pages for new articles, blogs, and other digital content, ensuring proper formatting and alignment with the organization's brand guidelines
  • Assists in managing the website content calendar, regularly refreshing key landing pages with relevant content and photography to ensure the site remains engaging and up-to-date
  • Supports Visit KC's SEO initiatives by conducting site audits, optimizing content and implementing strategies to enhance search engine visibility
  • Assists in maintaining Visit KC's convention and leisure media contact databases and executes monthly earned-media reporting by optimizing media monitoring/clipping services
  • Acts as a departmental liaison to the Partnerships & Events team in support of key media partners and their respective campaign assets
  • Manages and coordinates photography shoots and budget. Organizes and maintains image library and distributes photos and video footage
  • Assists in maintaining organization's CRM and email database to ensure accurate and up-to-date records for sales, leisure and partner contacts
  • Executes marketing reports to monitor key performance indicators from internal and external convention sales marketing programs to help educate key stakeholders
  • Supplements efforts and assists on in-house digital projects such as sales, hospitality and services toolkits, online booking engine, etc.
  • Compiles and maintains departmental and partner reports and communications (including Media Partner tracking, Conventions reporting, MarCom team goals, etc.)
  • Assists the public relations and social media teams with the creation and fulfillment of key promotional materials, including press kits, influencer collateral and social media giveaways
  • Helps aggregate destination and partner content for use in official Visit KC platforms, including print, digital and social mediums
  • Maintains Visit KC's digital pressroom with fresh marketing assets, local imagery and media access registrations
  • Coordinates and participates in special projects as requested, including; Big 12, Kansas City Restaurant Week, social media, KC Tap Tour, etc.
  • Supports the international trade and tourism department by assisting with site visits, FAMs, workshops, and managing international co-op programs in collaboration with various in-country organizations
  • Maintains and updates CRM records for international trade and tourism department, including new account entries, existing account updates, tradeshow notes, and follow-up activities
  • Possesses a passion for Kansas City and the greater Kansas City area

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, advertising or related field preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Internship or one (1) year of experience preferred

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Primarily office-based with occasional offsite meetings and events.
  • Occasional light travel is required for pre-promotional events, team events, and training sessions.
