Under the direction of the Mortgage Servicing Manager, the Mortgage Closer monitors scheduled loan closings, the preparation of documentation for closing, and the funding of the loan.
Position Description
The Mortgage Closer works in a team environment to perform full-cycle mortgage closing tasks for all mortgage products. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Monitoring;
- closing calendar and following up with all parties to ensure closing date is met.

- Preparing
- and delivering closing disclosures to members, and monitoring for receipt within the required regulatory timelines.
- and delivering closing packages to members, closing attorneys, and agents.
- funding notices.
- Reviewing insurance binders for compliance with credit union requirements.
- Performing pre-funding credit reviews, and verifications of employment.
- Recording mortgages for all home equity closings.
- Scanning loan documents, and adhering to the Credit Union’s record retention policies.
- Responding to auditors’ requests.
May be asked to assist mortgage servicing department, and/or other mortgage lending teams.
This position is designated as critical for the Harvard University Employees Credit Union as it provides non-deferrable services that must be performed in the event of an emergency or weather-related closure.
Basic Qualifications
Basic Qualifications are the minimum threshold a candidate must meet in order to be considered for this role.
- College degree, or three+ years’ experience in mortgage banking operations.

Work Format Details
This is a hybrid position that is based in Massachusetts. During the initial 90-day orientation and review period, new employees may be expected to work in the office more frequently, up to full time. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
