Reporting to the Sales Director, the National Accounts Manager, Digital and Online Sales is independently responsible for managing print and ebook sales to all digital accounts including Amazon. This position requires a minimum of five years of previous experience successfully managing the Digital and Online channel and minimum 7 years’ experience in the publishing industry.
Position Description
Independently responsible for Amazon, online retailers, and library aggregators
- Independently drive revenue results through active selling, utilizing sales data, identifying trends, and chasing market share.
- Independently develop an annual sales plan for each specific account.
- Regularly meet with all accounts in person or by Zoom to sell HUP books and establish deeper relationships.
- Full responsibility for managing the channel’s significant advertising budget, making informed and experienced decisions on how to promote titles across the online channel.
- Deep knowledge in utilizing account platforms for analysis and insights.
- Responsible for comparable title identification which drives Amazon’s SOQ process.
- Independently develop an annual online sales plan for HUP’s Loeb Classical Library.
- Schedule and conduct annual business reviews and regular check-ins with accounts.
- Independently negotiate terms and maintain contracts and agreements.
- Liaise with our distributor on orders, shipments, and account issues in a timely and proactive manner.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders on operational requirements that support results, i.e., updating book descriptions as necessary, suggesting BISAC or other metadata changes, assessing pricing, reviewing cover designs, and participating in inventory management.
- Provide frontlist forecasting and backlist inventory needs, based on demand analysis, publicity, and trends.
- Strategize title-specific or seasonal sales initiatives.
- Execute weekly and monthly sales reporting for the channel. Download and verify ebook sales reports and partner with the accounting department to address any issues.
Basic Qualifications
Candidates MUST meet the following basic qualifications to be considered for this role:
- Minimum 7 years of publishing experience, with a minimum of 5 years of direct experience and proven success independently managing digital and online accounts.
- Experience managing Amazon is required.

Work Format Details
This is a hybrid position that is based in Massachusetts. Additional details will be discussed during the interview process. All remote work must be performed within one of the Harvard Registered Payroll States, which currently includes Massachusetts, Connecticut, Maine, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont, Georgia, Illinois, Maryland, New Jersey, New York, Virginia, Washington, and California (CA for exempt positions only). Certain visa types and funding sources may limit work location. Individuals must meet work location sponsorship requirements prior to employment.
