Job Summary

This is a part-time position at Southwest Tennessee Community College for a scheduled or on-call CDL “A” driver to drive the two College mobile learning labs. Events will be attended by student audiences (minors).

The college has two vehicles and two hitch trailers (24-ft and 28-ft) associated with the mobile learning lab:

• One F-350 truck with Super Duty Crew cab 60” cab towing 28-ft hitch trailer
• One F-250 XL reg cab, 8ft bed towing 24-ft hitch trailer

College will provide an advance driver schedule to the greatest extent possible --- normally providing at least one-week advance notice.
Mobile Learning Lab transportation area is within the Greater Memphis metro region with no overnight travel. Specifically, between Southwest Tennessee Community College’s Macon Cove campus (5983 Macon Cove, Memphis, Tenn. 38134) and the designated Mobile Lab event site (student recruiting events).

Job Duties

  • Driver is expected to remain with truck during the duration of Mobile Lab events.
  • Arrive on Macon Cove campus one hour prior to departure to conduct safety inspection of trucks and trailers.
  • Connect truck and trailer, if necessary, and verify safety
  • Drive to Mobility Lab event locations.
  • Disconnect trucks and trailers, and move truck to safe location.
  • At the conclusion of Mobility Lab events, the driver will safely reconnect trucks and trailers; Connect truck and trailer and verify safety.
  • % - Return trucks and trailers to Macon Cove campus.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A valid commercial drivers license.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Ability to sufficiently speak the English language.
  • A minimum of 3 years recent experience driving the type of equipment that the driver will be assigned to operate.
  • No Department of Transportation defined accidents in the past three years in which the driver was convicted for a moving violation in connection with the crash
  • No moving violations in the past 3 years in any type of motor vehicle.
