Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Individual Giving (DIG), the Patron Program Associate plays an important role in ensuring the continued vitality of the Getty Patron Program, creating a rewarding experience for Getty’s primary support group through a consistently donor-focused approach. This position will be responsible for working with colleagues within Getty’s Development department and across the institution to help establish, improve, and execute best practices that effectively drive the growth and stewardship of Getty’s Patron community, with a specific focus on an expanding group of $1,000 “Friend” level Patrons who give annually or monthly.

Major Job Responsibilities

Donor Acquisition, Renewal, and Stewardship:

  • Under the supervision of the Director of Individual Giving (DIG), the Patron Program Associate collaborates with team members on creating initial drafts of renewal communications that meet strategic goals, and ensures the on-schedule distribution of a robust array of renewal appeals through channels including mail, email, and personal outreach.
  • Serves as the Patron Team expert on monthly-recurring giving by learning and sharing industry-wide monthly giving trends, leading-edge strategies, and related tools/technology options.
  • Tracks Patron monthly giving results and retention, and collaborates with colleagues to streamline online giving processes, while establishing monthly giving tracking that informs ongoing strategies for this distinct group of supporters.
  • Plays a key role during Patron acquisition campaigns by accurately preparing mail lists and suppressions, and deploying acquisition appeals for distribution, working collaboratively with the Senior Patron Program Manager and DIG.
  • Works with the Patron Team to cultivate new Patron prospects at in-person and virtual events.
  • Proactively identifies “Friend” level annual and recurring donors who are prospects for upgraded Patron memberships or other giving opportunities through personal communication and/or research.
  • Works with colleagues to optimize processes and technology platforms and tools to serve Patron team goals and analysis.
  • Executes key Patron stewardship digital communications, including the Patron newsletter.
  • Monitors key performance indicators with stewardship communications.
  • Coordinates stewardship and other outreach to “Friend” level Patron segments as needed to support team goals.
  • Updates Patron benefits when needed across digital and print content.

Events:

  • Plays a key role in carrying out Patron event preparations, keeping team members informed along the way, and works with the DIG to support communications related to Patron travel opportunities.
  • Collaborates with the Senior Patron Program Manager and DIG to ensure the successful execution of Patron Program and other events.
  • Participates with team members in day-of event tasks, including logistical support and registration / check-ins.

Donor Support:

  • With the Senior Patron Program Manager, provides rapid response to requests and inquiries from donors and donor prospects, either directly or by routing to the appropriate point of contact.
  • Ensures fulfillment of all Patron member benefits including Patron parking and Restaurant reservation requests, in collaboration with Patron team members.

Data Management and Analysis:

  • Works with database team colleagues to ensure that solicitation and gift data are accurately recorded.
  • Regularly monitors recurring Patron giving trends and metrics, and makes recommendations based on results.
  • Supports the effectiveness of Patron renewal, acquisition, stewardship, and cultivation outreach by compiling, closely monitoring, and sharing key performance indicators, and works collaboratively with the Patron Team on process/message revisions or enhancements as needed based on those results.
  • Tracks progress towards Patron appeal and annual goals.
  • Creates and contributes to reports for senior management.
  • Supports the Patron team’s use of a Raiser’s Edge-compatible email platform, and plays a key role in any platform enhancements or upgrades to support Patron team objectives.
  • Generates lists, queries, and reports from Raiser’s Edge, as needed.
  • Updates individual donor information in Raiser’s Edge.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 2-3 years of progressive fundraising and development management experience or the equivalent experience working in a marketing and communication environment; or
  • 2-3 years of experience administering Raiser’s Edge or other Development-related software

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Proficiency in Raiser’s Edge (or similar) a plus; Microsoft Excel and Word proficiency is required.
  • Knowledge of graphic design and design software a plus [Adobe, PowerPoint, etc.].
  • Experience with recurring giving is a plus; a thoughtful and proactive approach to learning and deploying recurring giving best practices is a must.
  • Positive attitude and strong work ethic; service mentality and donor-centric approach.
  • Excellent organizational and analytical skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Self-starter who takes initiative; works well in a team and independently.
  • Ability to work efficiently, multitask, meet deadlines, and achieve goals.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, and the ability to interact with a wide range of people. Excellent writing and effective communications skills are essential, with the ability to proofread documents.
  • Stays current with leading-edge trends and strategies, particularly with mid-level annual and recurring giving in the arts sector.
  • Actively contributes to an environment of continuous process improvement as needed to support Patron Program goals.
