Become a Principal Manager of Systems & Analytics in the Energy Procurement & Management (EPM) organization at Southern California Edison (SCE) and build a better tomorrow. This position is responsible for coordinating the implementation, management, and integration of EPM’s information systems, leading the development of data pipelines and analytics use cases, and managing the information and meter data of generators and aggregated customer usage for EPM contract and California Independent System Operator (CAISO) settlement processes. These efforts must be closely aligned and coordinated with other teams in EPM, IT and other operating units in SCE.
In this job, you will be responsible for delivering the systems and developing the strategy to improve, modernize, and optimize EPM’s current systems and data used to manage over $4 billion in wholesale market transactions. In addition, you will be managing data inputs used in critical enterprise reports including SCE’s Power Content Label and Greenhouse Gas reporting, and Edison International’s Sustainability report. You will interface with SCE’s IT department in support of the use of modern methodologies such as Gen AI and citizen development approaches. You will lead a team of 16 comprised of managers and individual contributors and report to the Director of Portfolio Planning and Analysis in the EPM organization.
Additionally, you’ll:
- Provide leadership to a diverse team and promote the Company’s safety culture to ensure a safe work environment.
- Lead a data science and data engineering team to drive the adoption and use of the Data Analytics Platform (DAP) and maximize the use of new tools such as cloud data storage and machine learning and business process automation platforms.
- Maintain a roadmap and create a strategy for the development of data analytics use cases across EPM and the required data pipelines.
- Oversee the information and data management teams responsible for the development of high-quality meter data for submission to the CAISO and settlement of power contracts.
- Lead the development and integration of new systems and data platforms in support of EPM business processes.
- Manage the EPM/IT relationship to develop a technology vision and roadmap and continue with the migration to the DAP and citizen software development methodologies.
- Provide expert advice and analysis of the impact on EPM’s systems of new regulations, changes to wholesale market rules and the requirements of new resource types.
- Oversee the support, maintenance, and enhancement of EPM’s systems to ensure ongoing work continues to be performed smoothly and efficiently to meet new regulatory requirements.
- Provide leadership and strategic guidance on the introduction of new technologies in the areas of process automation, analytics and reporting.
- Lead large cross-functional systems implementation projects.
- Manage resources and project budget levels to meet strategic objectives and operational needs.
- Manage employee performance for both direct and skip level reports. Establish performance expectations and goals for managers aligned with Company objectives, policies, and procedures. Manage, train, and develop staff by providing timely feedback, coaching and support.
- Make, recommend and/or approve employment decisions related to promotion, hiring, compensation, succession planning, and performance management.

Responsibilities
- Provides strategic guidance on the introduction of new technologies in the areas of process automation, data science, machine learning, analytics and reporting to support energy procurement and management business processes
- Manages internal and external stakeholder relationships required to develop and execute a technology vision and roadmap
- Leads a team of data scientists and data engineers engaged in large cross-functional systems implementation projects and oversees the information and data management teams responsible for the development of high-quality meter data for submission to the CAISO and the settlement of power contracts
- Provides expert advice and analysis of the impact on energy procurement and management systems of new regulations, changes to wholesale market rules and the requirements of new resource types
- Oversees the budget, support, maintenance, and enhancement of energy procurement and management systems to ensure ongoing work continues to be performed smoothly and efficiently to meet new regulatory requirements
- A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity
Minimum Qualifications
- Seven or more years of experience supervising a team of direct reports and/or project management.
- Seven years of experience with advanced information technologies such as cloud-based systems, business process automation tools, data platforms and/or analytical tools.
- Experience leading a technical/analytical organization.
- Experience with electric utility or energy markets including planning, contracting and reporting.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, Finance, or Business.
- Strong leadership, communication, presentation, and negotiating skills.
Additional Information
- This position’s work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

Salary range
- $211,500 - $317,300 per year
